Ballistic Limit Predictions with Quasi-Static Cavitation Fields

Tal Cohen、Rami Masri、David Durban2010-06-01International Journal of Protective Structures

Recent work on ductile hole enlargement under plane-stress conditions has revealed that while the internal pressure does not reach a saturation level, the energy increment required to create a nominal hole volume increment admits a finite asymptotic value. This specific cavitation energy, which is identified with the…

Tree-level electron-photon interactions in graphene

Matthew Mecklenburg、Jason C. S. Woo、B. C. Regan2010-06-01Physical Review B

Graphene's low-energy electronic excitations obey a $2+1$-dimensional Dirac Hamiltonian. After extending this Hamiltonian to include interactions with a quantized electromagnetic field, we calculate the amplitude associated with the simplest, tree-level Feynman diagram: the vertex connecting a photon with two electron…

Dielectric and ferroelectric properties in (Sr,Ni,Na)TiO3 solid solutions

Chen Ang、Zhi Yu2010-06-01Journal of Applied Physics

Solid solutions of (1-z) (Sr0.7Bi0.2◻0.1)TiO3+z(Na0.5Bi0.5)TiO3 (z=0–1) system are synthesized. Dielectric measurement reveals that two dielectric anomalies exist over the temperature range of 150–680 K. One is the dielectric peak with significant frequency dispersion below 500 K, whose nature evolves from a ferroelec…

The use of fractional derivation in modeling ferroelectric dynamic hysteresis behavior over large frequency bandwidth

Daniel Guyomar、Benjamin Ducharne、Gaël Sebald2010-06-01Journal of Applied Physics

The present article proposes a dynamical model to obtain ferroelectric hysteresis dynamics based on fractional derivatives. The consideration of a fractional derivative term widely increases the frequency bandwidth of the accuracy of the traditional hysteresis models. As a consequence, the model is suited for successf…

Characterization of Absorbent Flow Rate in Towel and Tissue

Paul D. Beuther、Michael Veith、Kenneth J. Zwick2010-06-01Journal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics

The quality of a paper towel is often judged based on how quickly it can wipe up a spill. However, the test methods currently available cannot repeatably measure significant differences in absorbent rate between samples. Recent round-robin testing evaluations by TAPPI and CEN organizations have shown that past methods…
