The zeolities gmelinite and ZSM-12 are synthesized using a cationic polymer template, both cases illustrating the templating effect; magic-angle 13C n.m.r. spectra provide direct evidence that the polymer is retained in the pore system of these zeolites.

Absolute measurements of the 200 reflection in Si and Ge at various azimuthal orientations are compared with N-beam calculations of the integrated intensity. All of the non-zero integrated intensity is accounted for by multiple-beam scattering. The measurements match the calculations on the assumption that F200 = 0.
The underlying principles of the transfer‐matrix programs GIOS and COSY are outlined. Especial emphasis is given to the calculation of particle trajectories and of image aberrations. Input and output of a second‐order calculation of GIOS is shown.
