Superradiance in GaSe Nanoparticle Aggregates

Károly Mogyorósi、David F. Kelley2006-12-10The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

Transient absorption results are presented on two types of GaSe nanoparticle aggregates. The results indicate that both types of aggregates exhibit larger emission oscillator strengths than the corresponding monomers, that is, superradiance. One type of GaSe nanoparticle is synthesized by conventional methods, and the…

Synthesis and Characterization of Silicon-Based Group 14 Dendrimers Si{(CH2)2Sn[(CH2)4MPh3]3}4 (M = Ge, Sn)

Herbert Schumann、Y. Aksu2006-12-10Organometallics

The catalytic hydrogermylation of Si(CH CH 2 ) 4 with Ph 3 GeH yielded Si(CH 2 CH 2 GePh 3 ) 4 ( 1 ). In contrast, Sn(CH CH 2 ) 4 and Sn(CH 2 CH CH 2 ) 4 reacted with Ph 3 GeH under the same conditions, forming Ph 3 Ge(CH 2 ) 2 GePh 3 ( 2 ) and Ph 3 Ge(CH 2 ) 3 GePh 3 ( 3 ), respectively, whereas the reaction of Sn(CH…

Micropatterned Thin Film Honeycomb Materials from Regiospecifically Modified Cellulose

John F. Kadla、Fadi H. Asfour、Batia Ben‐Aroya Bar‐Nir2006-12-10Biomacromolecules

Thin film honeycomb materials were prepared from regioselectively modified celluloses. The method uses water condensation at the surface of a cellulosic solution as an ordered template to form honeycomb structures. Pore size and distribution is controlled by several factors, one of which is the hydrophilicity of the c…

Oliver Hollmann、Thomas Gutberlet、Claus Czeslik2006-12-10Langmuir

We performed neutron reflectometry (NR) and total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) spectroscopy to characterize the structure and the protein binding capacity of a planar poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) brush at different temperatures. A PAA brush was prepared by spin-coating planar quartz or silicon wafers with a thi…

Solubility of Benzoic Acid in Mixed Solvents

Amanda Cristina de Oliveira、Márcia Gonçalves Coelho、Ricardo Francisco Pires 等 4 位作者2006-12-10Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data

Benzoic acid solubility has been measured in pure water and in the binary mixtures containing different solvents including water, N, N -dimethylformamide (DMF), ethanol, or 1,4-dioxane. The experiments were carried out employing the cell used in Oliveira's dissertation. The temperature dependence of the solubility of…

Facile and Reproducible Synthesis of Red-Emitting CdSe Nanocrystals in Amine with Long-Term Fixation of Particle Size and Size Distribution

Xinhua Zhong、Yaoyu Feng、Yuliang Zhang2006-12-10The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

Numerous approaches have been reported for the synthesis of CdSe nanocrystals, but there is no effective facile method for the synthesis of high-quality large, red-emitting CdSe nanocrystals. Herein we report a convenient and reproducible approach for the preparation of high-quality (high luminescent quantum yield, ne…

4-Substituted-α,α-diaryl-prolinols Improve the Enantioselective Catalytic Epoxidation of α,β-Enones

Yawen Li、Xin‐Yuan Liu、Ying‐Quan Yang 等 4 位作者2006-12-10The Journal of Organic Chemistry

To seek novel metal-free organic catalysts for epoxidation with high stereoselectivity, a series of 4-substituted-alpha,alpha-diaryl-prolinols were synthesized in four steps from trans-4-hydroxyl-L-proline. These prolinol derivatives catalyzed the asymmetric epoxidation of alpha,beta-enones to give the corresponding c…

DFT-Based Characterization of the Multiple Adsorption Modes of Nitrogen Oxides on Pt(111)

Rachel B. Getman、William F. Schneider2006-12-10The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

Pt is the most common catalyst for NO oxidation to NO 2, a key reaction in NO x remediation chemistry. In this work, density functional theory calculations and plane-wave supercell models are used to calculate the energies, charge distributions, and vibrational spectra of the stable and metastable states of adsorbed N…

Nanocrystalline Nanowires: 2. Phonons

Philip B. Allen2006-12-09Nano Letters

Nanocrystalline nanowires (NCNW) are fragments of bulk crystals that are infinite in only one direction. A construction is given for calculating eigenstates belonging to the symmetry labels (k,m) (wavevector and rotational quantum number). Vibrational harmonic eigenstates are worked out explicitly for a simple model,…

Influence of Electron-Attractor Substituents on the Magnetic Properties of Ni(II) String Complexes

Xavier López、Marc Bénard、Marie‐Madeleine Rohmer2006-12-09Inorganic Chemistry

Density functional theory calculations carried out on the anionic Ni(II) chain complexes {trinickeltetrakis[2,6-bis(amido)pyridine]}2- and {trinickeltetrakis[N,N'-bis(sulfonyl)pyridyldiamido]}2- show that the electron-attractor character of the sulfonyl substituent modifies the basicity of the amido ligand ends so as…

The Role of Surface Energy in the Growth of Boron Crystals

Wataru Hayami、Shigeki Otani2006-12-09The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

The surface energies of α-rhombohedral, β-rhombohedral, and α-tetragonal boron were calculated from first principles, for the first time, to investigate their role in nanoscale crystal growth. Electronic Effects of Peripheral Substituents at Porphyrin Meso Positions

Yaoqiu Zhu、Richard B. Silverman2006-12-09The Journal of Organic Chemistry

Porphyrins are stable molecules with a macrocyclic conjugated system and often peripheral substituents.
