Spin-glass state and magnetic-field-induced phenomena in distortedEu0.58Sr0.42MnO3perovskite

A. Sundaresan、A. Maignan、B. Raveau1997-03-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

Magnetic and magnetoresistance measurements were carried out on a distorted perovskite, ${\mathrm{Eu}}_{0.58}$${\mathrm{Sr}}_{0.42}$${\mathrm{MnO}}_{3}$. In the absence of applied magnetic field, this compound is an insulator down to 5 K. Results of the ac- and dc-susceptibility measurements suggest a spin-glass groun…

Vera Bolis、Alberto Cavenago、Bice Fubini1997-03-01Langmuir

The hydrophilic/hydrophobic behavior of two silica polymorphs (a finely ground cristobalite and a pyrogenic amorphous Aerosil) was studied by means of adsorption microcalorimetry, as a function of nature and extension of the surface hydroxylated layer. Water and two alcohols (methanol and tert -butyl alcohol) were use…

Grey Relational Analysis of Amine Inhibition of Mild Steel Corrosion in Acids

Pei Li、T.C. Tan、Jim Yang Lee1997-03-01CORROSION

Grey relational analysis makes use of relatively simple mathematical procedures to arrive at salient relationships in a complex system. It uses a relatively small amount of data and works with great variability in factors. Grey relational analysis was used to investigate the relationship between inhibitor structure an…

Scanning Electrochemical Microscopic Observation of a Precursor State to Pitting Corrosion of Stainless Steel

Yingyang Zhu、David E. Williams1997-03-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

Minor spatial fluctuations on the pA scale in passive current density of type 304 stainless steel in dilute aqueous chloride solution are shown to relate directly to the subsequent initiation of pitting corrosion.

Measurement of orientational order and mobility of a nematic liquid crystal in random nanometer confinement

Ch. Cramer、Th. Cramer、Friedrich Kremer 等 4 位作者1997-03-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

Confinement of a nematogen in submicrometer cavities can produce substantial effects on the nematic-isotropic phase transition and on order and orientation of the nematic phase. We combine the methods of C13- and H-NMR1 and broadband dielectric spectroscopy to probe liquid crystalline order and molecular mobility. We…

Erik A. Edelberg、Sam Bergh、R.L. Naone 等 5 位作者1997-03-01Journal of Applied Physics

We report the observation of room-temperature and low-temperature visible photoluminescence from nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si) thin films produced by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) through a gas discharge containing SiH4 diluted in Ar and H2. The nanocrystalline silicon films were characterized us…

Purification and Properties of Acetyl‐CoA Synthetase (ADP‐forming), an Archaeal Enzyme of Acetate Formation and ATP Synthesis, from the Hyperthermophile Pyrococcus furiosus

Jürgen Glasemacher、Annekatrin Bock、Roland Schmid 等 4 位作者1997-03-01European Journal of Biochemistry

Acetyl-CoA synthetase (ADP-forming) is an enzyme in Archaea that catalyzes the formation of acetate from acetyl-CoA and couples this reaction with the synthesis of ATP from ADP and Pi (acetyl-CoA + ADP + Pi --> acetate + ATP + CoA) [Schifer, T., Selig, M. & Schonheit, P. (1993) Arch. Microbiol. 159, 72-83]. The enzyme…

Selective Reduction of NOx with Propene under Oxidative Conditions: Nature of the Active Sites on Copper-Based Catalysts

Carlos Márquez‐Álvarez、I. Rodrı́guez-Ramos、A. Guerrero-Ruı́z 等 5 位作者1997-03-01Journal of the American Chemical Society

The chemical changes that occurred in two copper-based catalysts (Cu-ZSM-5 and Cu-Al 2 O 3 ) during the selective reduction of NO with propene in the presence of oxygen were studied using in situ X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES). For the quantitative analysis of the XANES spectra, a mathematical procedure…

Zeolite Chemistry of CuZSM-5 Revisited

M. Lo Jacono、G. Fierro、Roberto Dragone 等 6 位作者1997-03-01The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

The recently reported interesting behavior of the EPR spin intensity as freshly prepared CuZSM-5 is dehydrated has been confirmed, and the interpretation offered in explanation has been tested by extending the data. Magnetic susceptibility and optical diffuse reflection spectroscopy have been used to show that the ano…

Kenji Hanabusa、Atsushi Kawakami、Mutsumi Kimura 等 4 位作者1997-03-01Chemistry Letters

Abstract Trialkyl cis-1,3,5-cyclohexanetricarboxamides were able to cause physical gelation in organic liquids to afford completely transparent organogel. The main driving force for gelation was intermolecular hydrogen bonding between amides and van der Waals interaction among hydrophobic alkyl chains.
