Rapid and effective labeling of brain tissue using TAT-conjugated CdS∶Mn/ZnS quantum dots

Swadeshmukul Santra、Heesun Yang、Jessie T. Stanley 等 7 位作者2005-01-01Chemical Communications

TAT (a cell penetrating peptide)-conjugated CdSratioMn/ZnS quantum dots (Qdots), intra-arterially delivered to a rat brain, rapidly (within a few minutes) labeled the brain tissue without manipulating the blood-brain-barrier (BBB). Qdot loading was sufficiently high that it allowed a gross fluorescent visualization of…

Electron-conducting quantum dot solids: novel materials based on colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals

Danil Vanmaekelbergh、Peter Liljeroth2005-01-01Chemical Society Reviews

We review the optical and electrical properties of solids that are composed of semiconductor nanocrystals. Crystals, with dimensions in the nanometre range, of II-VI, IV-VI and III-V compound semiconductors, can be prepared by wet-chemical methods with a remarkable control of their size and shape, and surface chemistr…

A green process for chlorine-free benzaldehyde from the solvent-free oxidation of benzyl alcohol with molecular oxygen over a supported nano-size gold catalyst

Vasant R. Choudhary、Anirban Dhar、Prabhas Jana 等 5 位作者2005-01-01Green Chemistry

Benzyl alcohol is oxidized selectively to benzaldehyde with high yield, with a little formation of benzylbenzoate, by molecular oxygen over a reusable nano-size gold catalyst supported on U3O8, MgO, Al2O3 or ZrO2 in the absence of any solvent.

Surface Eu 3+ ions are different than “bulk” Eu 3+ ions in crystalline doped LaF 3 nanoparticles

V. Sudarsan、Frank C. J. M. van Veggel、Rodney Herring 等 4 位作者2005-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

Distinct surface effects on the luminescence properties of highly crystalline LaF3:Eu nanoparticles have been demonstrated, by incorporating different ligands on their surface as well as forming core–shell nanoparticles (i.e. doped LaF3:Eu core with an undoped LaF3 shell). These studies have established that the surfa…

Wetting behaviour of layers of TiO2 nanotubes with different diameters

Eugeniu Balaur、Jan M. Macák、Hiroaki Tsuchiya 等 4 位作者2005-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

In the present work we investigate the wetting behaviour of nanotubular TiO2 layers (π-TiO2) grown by electrochemical anodization of Ti. As-prepared π-TiO2 layers show a super-hydrophilic behaviour while π-TiO2 layers covered by octadecylphosphonic acid (C18H37PO(OH)2) monolayer show super-hydrophobic behaviour. We de…

Interface Modification and Mechanical Properties of Natural Fiber-Polyolefin Composite Products

Mohini Sain、P P Fathimathul Suhara、Samuel Law 等 4 位作者2005-01-01Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites

Natural fibers are potentially a high-performance and non-abrasive reinforcing fiber source. In this study, mechanical properties of polypropylene (PP) composites with various natural fibers such as old newsprint, kraft pulp and hemp were studied. The effect of a low-molecular weight, maleated type coupling agent, on…

Jae Il Kim、Hee Young Kim、Hideki Hosoda 等 4 位作者2005-01-01MATERIALS TRANSACTIONS

In order to develop new biomedical shape memory alloys, mechanical properties and shape memory behavior of Ti–22Nb–(0.5–2.0)O(at%) alloys were investigated by tensile tests at various temperatures and X-ray diffraction measurement. The Ti–Nb–O alloys were fabricated by an arc melting method and then homogenized at 127…

Sericin Enhances Attachment of Cultured Human Skin Fibroblasts

Kozo Tsubouchi、Yumiko Igarashi、Yoko Takasu 等 4 位作者2005-01-01Bioscience Biotechnology and Biochemistry

Human skin fibroblasts were cultured on sericin prepared from cocoon shells. The living cell number after 72 h was enhanced to 250% of the no-sericin control. The increase was due to the acceleration of the initial attachment of the cells. It was found that sericin M, the main component of about 400 kDa, and its serin…
