EVALUATION OF PORPHYRIN CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED FOR PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY

K. W. Woooburn、Nicholas J. Vardaxis、John S. Hill 等 6 位作者1992-05-01Photochemistry and Photobiology

The cytotoxicity (in the dark), phototoxicity (red light) and subcellular localization (using confocal laser scanning microscopy) were determined for 15 porphyrins (1-15) in C6 glioma cells. The partition coefficient in 2-octanol was also determined for each porphyrin at pH 7.4. The cytotoxicity increased with pi (log…

Toshihiro Yamase、Tomoji Ozeki、Shigeyuki Motomura1992-05-01Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan

Abstract Peroxo complexes prepared by the reaction of titanoundecatungstophosphate (PTiW11O405−) and dititanodecatungstophosphate (PTi2W10O407−) with hydrogen peroxide are characterized by means of the 183W NMR spectroscopy and the single crystal X-ray diffractometry. Electronic spectra and permanganate titration anal…

Piezoelectrically-induced switching of 90° domains in tetragonal BaTiO3 and PbTiO3 investigated by micro-Raman spectroscopy

Z. Li、Christopher Foster、Xu Dai 等 6 位作者1992-05-01Journal of Applied Physics

Domain switching of 90° ferroelectric domains in tetragonal BaTiO3 and PbTiO3 is induced by the application of stress along specific crystallographic axes. For BaTiO3, single-domain crystals are obtained from twinned specimens by the application of ∼1.1 MPa of stress parallel to the a axis and twin boundaries are indu…

Shape Selective Epoxidation of Alkenes Catalyzed by Polyoxometalate-Intercalated Hydrotalcite

Takashi Tatsumi、Katsutoshi Yamamoto、Hiroshi Tajima 等 4 位作者1992-05-01Chemistry Letters

Abstract Hydrotalcite pillared by polyoxometalates of Mo and W catalyzed epoxidation of alkenes with H2O2 with significant shape selectivity; epoxidation of 2-hexene was favored than that of cyclohexene. The subsequent hydrolysis of epoxides to form diols was retarded compared to hydrotalcite-free catalysts.

[tBuSiO(ReO4)]4, a Model Compound for Metal Oxides on Silicate Surfaces—Synthesis from the Stable Triol tBuSi(OH)3 and Re2O7

Norbert Winkhofer、Herbert W. Roesky、Mathias Noltemeyer 等 4 位作者1992-05-01Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English

Four ReO4 units each anchored to a silicon atom are found in the soluble metal-containing siloxane 1, accessible from the silanetriol tBuSi(OH)3 and Re2O7. The silanetriol does not undergo condensation reactions and can be prepared from tBuSiCl3 by hydrolysis in high yield. Compounds like 1 are interesting as model co…

Zhiwei Lü、Su‐Huai Wei、Alex Zunger1992-05-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

In ordered L${1}_{2}$-type ${\mathit{A}}_{3}$B compounds, each A atom is coordinated by 8A+4B atoms, while each B atom is coordinated by 12A atoms. By symmetry, all A-A, A-B, and B-B bond lengths are equal. When this structure disorders to form the substitutionally random ${\mathit{A}}_{0.75}$${\mathit{B}}_{0.25}$ all…

Structural implications of spectroscopic characterization of a putative zinc finger peptide from HIV-1 integrase.

Carl J. Burke、Gautam Sanyal、Mark W. Bruner 等 9 位作者1992-05-01Journal of Biological Chemistry

The N-terminal domain of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) integrase (IN) contains the sequence motif His-Xaa3-His-Xaa23-Cys-Xaa2-Cys, which is strongly conserved in all retroviral and retrotransposon IN proteins. This structural motif constitutes a putative zinc finger in which a metal ion may be coordinately boun…

Electrochemical Decontamination of Metallic Surfaces Contaminated by Spent-Fuel Storage Pool Water

Prakash B. Chaudhary、Manohar G. Bhide1992-05-01Nuclear Technology

It was earlier shown theoretically that the radioactivity released by spent-fuel elements into storage pool water is predominantly carried by positive ions. A new decontamination method is described in which freshly contaminated metallic surfaces are decontaminated electrochemically, resulting in smooth, shiny surface…

Ammonia volatilization from urea, ammonium sulfate and NutraSweet sludge in bare and straw‐covered soils

H. Shahandeh、M. L. Cabrera、M. E. Sumner1992-05-01Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis

NutraSweet sludge, a by‐product from the manufacture of the artificial sweetner aspartame, is often applied to land as fertilizer. In many cases, the sludge is surface‐applied, which could result in gaseous losses of nitrogen. In order to determine the relative importance of nitrogen losses through ammonia volatilizat…

Photoelastic effect inTi3+-doped sapphire

Hergen Eilers、E. Strauß、W. M. Yen1992-05-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

We have used photothermal-beam-deflection spectroscopy to measure the change in the index of refraction of ${\mathrm{Ti}}^{3+}$-doped sapphire after pulsed excitation at 532 nm with a neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser. The beam-deflection signal arises from both thermal and nonthermal sources. The nontherm…
