A shock compaction technique has been successfully applied for the consolidation of hard magnetic powders without appreciable changes in the phase structure and grain size. Pr–Fe–B and Sm–Fe–N materials, prepared with the application of melt spinning and mechanical alloying, respectively, were shock compacted with a s…

Phosphors have been used for the display of information since the invention of the cathode-ray tube (CRT) by Karl Ferdinand Braun in 1897. With the development of color television, an effort spanning approximately 30 years, came the most significant advances in phosphor technology. The most noteworthy was the shift to…

We examined the aluminium solubility in the upper B horizon of podzols and its relation to the solid phase of the soil in 60 samples covering a pH range from 3.8 to 5.1. Solid phases were characterized by extractions with acid oxalate and pyrophosphate (pH 10). The solubility of Al was studied in a batch experiment in…

Five polystyrene−poly(dimethylsiloxane) di- and triblock copolymers were prepared by two different methods, a classical anionic polymerization and a cationic polymerization of styrene in the presence of a new macromolecular initiator. Spherical, cylindrical, and lamellar phase-separated morphologies were identified. T…

The photocorrosion behavior of CdS nanoparticle colloid containing particles ranging from 4 to 10 nm was investi-gated using two kinds of monochromatic light, one of which was prepared by passing light from a Xe lamp through inter-ference filters, and the other was obtained by an Ar ion laser. CdS particles were photo…

Microbially influenced corrosion (MIC) is catalysed by a series of metabolic activities of selected micro‐organisms, notably by oxidation of cathodic hydrogen by hydrogenase, by hydrogen sulphide and by reduction of ferric iron. The sulphate‐reducing bacteria are considered to be the most common catalyst of MIC, where…

Abstract The reaction of CoX2(X=Br, Cl) and pyrimidine (PM) in H2O gave crystals of CoPM2X2. The crystal structure analysis revealed a chiral three-dimensional network of the Co(II) ions. Weak ferromagnetism with relatively large spontaneous magnetization was observed below 5 K for both compounds.

Oxovanadium phosphates constitute a crystallochemically very rich family that, in turn, results in a seemingly intricate magnetochemistry including from isolated dimers to 3-D systems. This magnetic diversity is due, in part, to the possible participation of phosphate groups in the spin transfer between V IV centers.…

Nanostructured NdFeB films were prepared by magnetron sputtering followed by rapid thermal annealing at a ramp rate of 200 °C/s. Isotropically oriented Nd2Fe14B crystallites were formed in the films and coercivities up to 20 kOe and remanence ratios up to 0.8 were obtained. Transmission electron microscopy analysis sh…

Abstract The general concepts of x-ray and neutron reflectivity are outlined. Theoretical principles are discussed at the beginning where both, the optical treatment based on the solution of the Helmholtz equation and the kinematical scattering formalism are given. Afterwards experimental standard setups are presented…

This work describes the synthesis of new adamantane-based polyimides by reaction of 1,3-bis(4-aminophenyl)adamantane (4) with various aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides (5). The films have low dielectric constants ranging from 2.76 to 2.92. The poly(amic-acid)s 6 have inherent viscosities of 0.98∼1.42 dL/g. The pol…

Sixty-four such values have been correlated through our solvation equation, the coefficients of which lead to the conclusion that ethanol and water solvents are…
