M. Leonowicz、W. Kaszuwara、E. Jezierska 等 7 位作者1998-06-01Journal of Applied Physics

A shock compaction technique has been successfully applied for the consolidation of hard magnetic powders without appreciable changes in the phase structure and grain size. Pr–Fe–B and Sm–Fe–N materials, prepared with the application of melt spinning and mechanical alloying, respectively, were shock compacted with a s…

Low-Voltage Cathodoluminescent Phosphors

L. E. Shea1998-06-01The Electrochemical Society Interface

Phosphors have been used for the display of information since the invention of the cathode-ray tube (CRT) by Karl Ferdinand Braun in 1897. With the development of color television, an effort spanning approximately 30 years, came the most significant advances in phosphor technology. The most noteworthy was the shift to…

Aluminium solubility related to secondary solid phases in upper B horizons with spodic characteristics

SIMONSSON、BERGGREN1998-06-01European Journal of Soil Science

We examined the aluminium solubility in the upper B horizon of podzols and its relation to the solid phase of the soil in 60 samples covering a pH range from 3.8 to 5.1. Solid phases were characterized by extractions with acid oxalate and pyrophosphate (pH 10). The solubility of Al was studied in a batch experiment in…

David Rosati、M. P. Vivarat Perrin、Patrick Navard 等 6 位作者1998-06-01Macromolecules

Five polystyrene−poly(dimethylsiloxane) di- and triblock copolymers were prepared by two different methods, a classical anionic polymerization and a cationic polymerization of styrene in the presence of a new macromolecular initiator. Spherical, cylindrical, and lamellar phase-separated morphologies were identified. T…

Characteristic Features of Size‐Selective Photoetching of CdS Nanoparticles as a Means of Preparation of Monodisperse Particles

Tsukasa Torimoto、Hiroshi Nishiyama、Takao Sakata 等 5 位作者1998-06-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

The photocorrosion behavior of CdS nanoparticle colloid containing particles ranging from 4 to 10 nm was investi-gated using two kinds of monochromatic light, one of which was prepared by passing light from a Xe lamp through inter-ference filters, and the other was obtained by an Ar ion laser. CdS particles were photo…

Corrosion-enhancing potential of Shewanella putrefaciens isolated from industrial cooling waters

Dawood、Brözel1998-06-01Journal of Applied Microbiology

Microbially influenced corrosion (MIC) is catalysed by a series of metabolic activities of selected micro‐organisms, notably by oxidation of cathodic hydrogen by hydrogenase, by hydrogen sulphide and by reduction of ferric iron. The sulphate‐reducing bacteria are considered to be the most common catalyst of MIC, where…

Pyrimidine-Bridged Cobalt(II) Complexes with a Chiral 3-D Network Showing Weak Ferromagnetism

Kensuke Nakayama、Takayuki Ishida、Ryo Takayama 等 7 位作者1998-06-01Chemistry Letters

Abstract The reaction of CoX2(X=Br, Cl) and pyrimidine (PM) in H2O gave crystals of CoPM2X2. The crystal structure analysis revealed a chiral three-dimensional network of the Co(II) ions. Weak ferromagnetism with relatively large spontaneous magnetization was observed below 5 K for both compounds.

Prediction of Magnetic Properties in Oxovanadium(IV) Phosphates: The Role of the Bridging PO4 Anions

Manuel Roca、Pedro Amorós、Joan Cano 等 7 位作者1998-06-01Inorganic Chemistry

Oxovanadium phosphates constitute a crystallochemically very rich family that, in turn, results in a seemingly intricate magnetochemistry including from isolated dimers to 3-D systems. This magnetic diversity is due, in part, to the possible participation of phosphate groups in the spin transfer between V IV centers.…

Nanostructured NdFeB films processed by rapid thermal annealing

M. Yu、Y. Liu、S. H. Liou 等 4 位作者1998-06-01Journal of Applied Physics

Nanostructured NdFeB films were prepared by magnetron sputtering followed by rapid thermal annealing at a ramp rate of 200 °C/s. Isotropically oriented Nd2Fe14B crystallites were formed in the films and coercivities up to 20 kOe and remanence ratios up to 0.8 were obtained. Transmission electron microscopy analysis sh…

X-ray and neutron reflectivity

作者信息未提供1998-06-01Zeitschrift für Kristallographie - Crystalline Materials

Abstract The general concepts of x-ray and neutron reflectivity are outlined. Theoretical principles are discussed at the beginning where both, the optical treatment based on the solution of the Helmholtz equation and the kinematical scattering formalism are given. Afterwards experimental standard setups are presented…

Low dielectric constant polyimides derived from 1,3-bis(4-aminophenyl)adamantane

Yaw‐Terng Chern、Hann‐Chyan Shiue1998-06-01Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics

This work describes the synthesis of new adamantane-based polyimides by reaction of 1,3-bis(4-aminophenyl)adamantane (4) with various aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides (5). The films have low dielectric constants ranging from 2.76 to 2.92. The poly(amic-acid)s 6 have inherent viscosities of 0.98∼1.42 dL/g. The pol…

The solubility of gases and vapours in ethanol - the connection between gaseous solubility and water-solvent partition

Michael H. Abraham、Gary S. Whiting、Wendel J. Shuely 等 4 位作者1998-06-01Canadian Journal of Chemistry

Ostwald solubility coefficients, as log L, for solutes in water and ethanol have been combined to give log P EtOH for partition between the two pure solvents. Sixty-four such values have been correlated through our solvation equation, the coefficients of which lead to the conclusion that ethanol and water solvents are…

The small-polaron crossover: Comparison between exact results and vertex correction approximation

Massimo Capone、S. Ciuchi、Claudio Grimaldi1998-06-01Europhysics Letters (EPL)

We study the crossover from quasi-free electron to small polaron in the Holstein model for a single electron by means of both exact and self-consistent calculations in one dimension and on an infinite coordination lattice. We show that the crossover occurs when both strong coupling (λ > 1) and multiphonon (α 2 > 1) co…
