Photosensitized Electrolytic Oxidation on Semiconducting n-Type TiO2 Electrode

Akira Fujishima、Kenichi Honda、Shinichi Kikuchi1969-01-01The Journal of the Society of Chemical Industry Japan

立ち上り電位はpH4.7では-0.5V(vs.SCE)である。この電解酸化反応は従来n型半導体で報告されている電極自身の溶解反応ではなくて,水の電解による酸素の発生であることを確かめた。このことはいわゆる平衡電位より約1V以上も…

Flashover voltage of high-voltage insulators with uniform surface-pollution films

R. Wilkins1969-01-01Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers

Contamination on the surface of high-voltage outdoor insulators can lead to the formation of quasistable gas discharges, which burn in series with the resistive contaminative film. Under certain conditions, these discharges may grow to cause a complete flashover. In this paper, a model for the case of a discharge burn…

Infrared Spectra of Cubic and Tetragonal Manganese Ferrites

V.A.M. Brabers1969-01-01physica status solidi (b)

Abstract The infrared absorption spectra in the range from 200 to 700 cm −1 of cubic and tetragonal manganese ferrites, Mn x Fe 3– x O 4 , are reported. An analysis of the spectra is made with a model by which the lattice vibrations are classified into species of the point group D 2 d on the analogy of the results for…

The scaled particle theory for particles of arbitrary shape

R. Gibbons1969-01-01Molecular Physics

The scaled particle theory of Reiss et al. has been extended to hard non-spherical particles and equations analogous to the Percus-Yevick equation have been obtained for mixtures of particles of the same shape but different sizes. The resulting equation of state produces exact second and third virial coefficients whic…

Inhibition Mechanism of Medium-Sized Polymethyleneimine

Kunitsugu Aramaki、Norman Hackerman1969-01-01OpenAlex

The inhibitive effect of medium‐sized polymethyleneimines on the corrosion of iron in HCl solution is particularly good, and this effective inhibition is closely related to the angle of C‐N‐C bond or to strain in the ring as has been observed previously. The inhibition mechanism of the cyclic imines is developed furth…

Thermoplastic elastomers

Geoffrey Holden、E. T. Bishop、N. R. Legge1969-01-01OpenAlex

Abstract An important new class of polymers, the thermoplastic elastomers, was announced by the Shell Chemical Company (U.S.A.) in 1965. These new products may be formed into useful articles by modern rapid thermoplastics processing techniques, such as injection molding, and without any chemical vulcanization step pro…

A simple, sensitive graphical method of treating thermogravimetric analysis data

A. Broido1969-01-01OpenAlex

Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) is finding increasing utility in investigations of the pyrolysis and combustion behavior of materials. Although a theoretical treatment of the TGA behavior of an idealized reaction is relatively straight-forward, major complications can be introduced when the reactions are complex, e.g…

The Orientation of Domain Walls in Twinned Ferroelectric Crystals

Jan Fousek、V. Janovec1969-01-01OpenAlex

Due to the spontaneous deformations of ferroelectric crystals in their ferroelectric phases, twins (domains) may be separated only by those composition planes (domain walls) which satisfy the mechanical compatibility conditions; such planes are in an infinite crystal called permissible walls. A mathematical treatment…

The Mechanism of the Dendritic Electrocrystallization of Zinc

J.W. Diggle、A.R. Despić、J. O’M. Bockris1969-01-01OpenAlex

Measurements have been made of the growth rate of zinc dendrites in alkaline zincate solutions as a function of overpotential (η), concentration ( c ) , and temperature ( T ) . The tip radii have been measured by electron microscopy. At constant potential, an initiation time of between 5 and 100 min is observed, depen…

Shapes of Inhomogeneously Broadened Resonance Lines in Solids

A.M. Stoneham1969-01-01OpenAlex

Inhomogeneous broadening has been observed in resonance lines in solids over the wide range of energies spanned by nuclear magnetic resonance, electron spin resonance, optical, and M\"ossbauer methods. The broadening arises from random strains, electric fields, and other perturbations from the defects in the lattice c…

Electromigration failure modes in aluminum metallization for semiconductor devices

J. R. Black1969-01-01OpenAlex

Two wear-out type failure modes involving aluminum metallization for semiconductor devices are described. Both modes involve mass transport by momentum exchange between conducting electrons and metal ions. The first failure mode is the formation of an electrically open circuit due to the condensation of vacancies in t…

Cross-Linking–Effect on Physical Properties of Polymers

Lawrence E. Nielsen1969-01-01OpenAlex

Many of the polymers used in composite systems and in other applications are cross-linked or thermoset polymers. How do such cross-linked polymers differ in properties from the better-understood linear or thermoplastic polymers? This review paper attempts to answer this question. The paper is written from the practica…

Polarons in crystalline and non-crystalline materials

I. G. Austin、N. F. Mott1969-01-01OpenAlex

The current state of polaron theory as applicable to transition metal oxides is reviewed, including problems such as impurity conduction where disorder plays a role. An estimate is given of the conditions under which polaron formation leads to an enhancement of the mass but no hopping energy. The binding energy of a p…
