Structure Formation Control of Disc-Shaped Molecules

Dietmar Janietz2003-01-01Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals

Supramolecular assemblies of radial multialkynylbenzene derivatives are presented which arise either from specific interactions with interfaces or from the covalent linkage of different molecular fragments. Surface-assisted molecular orientation control was investigated at the air/water interface, on photo-oriented az…

Abstract A novel stereo‐regular organo‐bridged ladder‐like polymethylsiloxane ( LPMS ) was synthesized by a stepwise coupling polymerization on the basis of an amido H‐bonding‐assisted self‐assembling template. The monomer N,N′ ‐bis{4‐[3‐(diethoxymethylsilyl)propoxy]‐phenyl}terephthalamide ( M ), prepared by hydrosily…

Modelling the Interface Pressure Applied by Knitted Structures Designed for Medical-textile Applications

Tilak Dias、D Yahathugoda、Anura Fernando 等 4 位作者2003-01-01Journal of the Textile Institute

A theoretical model is proposed for prediction of the interface-pressure profile applied by plain-knitted elastomeric structures used in compression therapy. Compression therapy may be applied through pressure garments to prevent and reduce venous reflux and peripheral oedema. The interface pressure induced by a compr…

Sliding Properties of Composite Sprayed Coating between Bronze Powder and Solid Lubricant

Takeshi Kobayashi、Toru Maruyama、Tsutomu Yasuda2003-01-01MATERIALS TRANSACTIONS

Intake of lead is harmful to the human body. Therefore, it is necessary to substitute other alloying elements for lead in Cu alloys. Using a Cu–9.5 mass%Sn alloy powder and CaF2, which has sliding properties equal to lead, a composite sprayed coating (by flame spraying) was developed. The results were as follows. A co…

Intercalative polymerization of cyclic esters in layered silicates: thermal vs. catalytic activation

Nadège Pantoustier、Michaël Alexandre、Philippe Degée 等 8 位作者2003-01-01Composite Interfaces

Poly(ε-caprolactone) layered silicate nanocomposites were synthesized by in situ intercalative ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of ε-caprolactone. The polymerization was promoted by thermal or catalytic initiation starting from either non-modified natural sodium-montmorillonite (MMT-Na) or montmorillonite modified by…

Ferroelectricity of Perovskite (ABO 3 ) Type Crystals

Wataru Kinase、Koji Harada2003-01-01Ferroelectrics

The ferroelectricity of the ABO 3 type perovskite-crystals CaTiO 3, SrTiO 3, BaTiO 3 and PbTiO 3 the local fields acting on the Ti ions are discussed. It is shown that the ferroelectricity in the last two crystals is related to the large electronic polarizability of Ba and Pb.

Formation of ordered helium pores in amorphous silicon subjected to low-energy helium ion irradiation

V. F. Reutov、A. S. Sokhatskii2003-01-01Technical Physics

Thin transparent (for transmission electron microscopy, TEM) self-supported Si(001) films are irradiated on the (110) end face by low-energy ( E =17 keV) He + ions at doses ranging from 5×10 16 to 4.5×10 17 cm −2 at room temperature. The TEM study of the irradiated Si films along the ion range shows that an a-Si layer…

Infusible but soluble polycarbosilane (PCS) was obtained by heating Yajima PCS at 300 °C for 1 h with 1– wt.% of polyborazine (PBN). The simple addition of PBN to PCS and subsequent heat treatment produced multiple effects on thermal conversion. It improved the ceramic yield of the polymers from 64% to 78%, and increa…

Powders in the CeO2-ZrO2-MOx system were prepared by coprecipitation method. Influence of adding a third components MOx of transition metal oxides and rare earth metal oxides on the specific surface area (SA) and oxygen storage capacity (OSC) were investigated. It was found that transition metal oxides decrease drasti…

Polyaniline (PAni) has been classified as an intractable polymer, particularly in its conducting form, the emeraldine salt (ES). Therefore one can consider the mixture of water and PAni as a suspension. The conducting form of PAni can be obtained by a doping process known as acid doping, in which a strong acid turns P…

Corrosion Inhibition of a Green Scale Inhibitor Polyepoxysuccinic Acid

Wei Beijing2003-01-01中国化学快报:英文版

The corrosion inhibition of a green scale inhibitor, polyepoxysuccinic acid (PESA) was studied based on dynamic tests. It is found that when PESA is used alone, it had good corrosion inhibition. So, PESA should be included in the category of corrosion inhibitors. It is not only a kind of green scale inhibitor, but als…
