Cooper Pair Writing at the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 Interface

Cheng Cen、Daniela F. Bogorin、Chung Wung Bark 等 6 位作者2011-02-05arXiv

The LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interface provides a unique platform for controlling the electronic properties of the superconducting semiconductor SrTiO3. Prior investigations have shown that two-dimensional superconductivity can be produced at the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interface and tuned electrostatically. The recently demonstrated reve…

Abstract We now describe the finding that a copolymer of 9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl and bipyridine (BPy) can extract in “one-pot” ≈96–97%-enriched (6,5)-SWNTs in m-xylene and p-xylene not containing metallic SWNTs, which was revealed by vis–near IR absorption, photoluminescence, and Raman spectroscopies.

Noha Gaber、Diaa Khalil、Amr M. Shaarawi2011-02-04Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE

In this work we describe a method for fabricating optical filters using multilayered porous silicon 1D photonic structure. An electrochemical cell is constructed to control the porosity of variable layers in p-type Si wafers. Porous silicon multilayered structures are formed of λ/4 (or multiples) thin films tha…

Scanning Probe Microscopy on heterogeneous CaCu3Ti4O12 thin films

Patrick Fiorenza、Raffaella Lo Nigro、V. Raineri2011-02-04Nanoscale Research Letters

The conductive atomic force microscopy provided a local characterization of the dielectric heterogeneities in CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) thin films deposited by MOCVD on IrO2 bottom electrode. In particular, both techniques have been employed to clarify the role of the inter- and sub-granular features in terms of conductive a…

Solving the full anisotropic liquid crystal waveguides by using an iterative pseudospectral-based eigenvalue method

Chia‐Chien Huang2011-02-04Optics Express

This study develops an efficient mode solver based on pseudospectral eigenvalue algorithm to analyze liquid crystal waveguides with full 3 × 3 anisotropic permittivity tensors. Present formulation yields a cubic eigenvalue matrix equation with an eigenvalue of the propagation constant, and they are solved using an ite…

Growth and characterization of Er‐doped ZnO elongated nanostructures

Yu Kyoung Ryu、Paloma Fernández、J. Piqueras2011-02-04physica status solidi (a)

Abstract Er‐doped ZnO nano‐ and microstructures have been grown by thermal treating of compacted mixtures of ZnO and Er 2 O 3 powders and their optical properties have been studied by cathodoluminescence (CL). Annealing the pressed samples leads to the growth of nanoneedles and nanoneedle networks, as well as rods. CL…

Abstract We report Ge nanocrystals (NCs) based dual functional light emitting and metal insulator semiconductor (MIS) flash memory devices, fabricated by rf sputtering. Transmission electron micrographs revealed the formation of spherically shaped Ge NCs. We have observed broad electroluminescence (EL) around 760 nm,…

Spectroscopy of strongly localized excitons and band-gap states in semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes

Everett Comfort、David A. Jones、Argyrios Malapanis 等 6 位作者2011-02-04Physical Review B

It is often assumed that single-walled carbon nanotubes grown via catalytic chemical vapor deposition are free of defects, particularly when suspended over a trench. Here we show that semiconducting nanotubes grown in this manner can contain a surprisingly large number of states within the band gap. High-resolution ph…

Dynamics of nanodroplets on wettability gradient surfaces

Ali Moosavi、Amir H. Mohammadi2011-02-04Journal of Physics Condensed Matter

A lubrication model is used to study the dynamics of nanoscale droplets on wettability gradient surfaces. The effects of the gradient size, size of the nanodroplets and the slip on the dynamics have been studied. Our results indicate that the position of the center of mass of the droplets can be well described in term…

José A. Jiménez、Mariana Sendova2011-02-04The Journal of Chemical Physics

This study proposes in situ optical microspectroscopy as a means for the investigation of particle growth and metal transport in nanocomposite systems based on the temperature- and time-dependent optical response of the material. The technique has been successfully employed for the real-time monitoring of the growth o…

Himendra Jha、Felix Schmidt‐Stein、Nabeen K. Shrestha 等 6 位作者2011-02-04Nanotechnology

In the present work, we show that a porous alumina template can easily be filled with magnetic nanoparticles and then be sealed by a hot water treatment (by forming an aluminium oxyhydroxide (AlOOH) sealant layer). The porous layer then can be separated from the substrate by an etch to form free magnetic AlOOH nano-ca…
