Deformation‐mechanism maps of the intermetallic compound MgZn2

P. Paufler1978-01-01Kristall und Technik

Abstract Stress‐temperature curves at constant strain‐rate have been summarized for steady‐state flow conditions of single crystals and polycrystals, and fields of dominating microscopic mechanisms were proposed.

Surface tension of soluble inorganic salts, from crystallization measurements

O. Söhnel1978-01-01Kristall und Technik

Abstract A method is suggested for the determination of crystal‐solution interfacial tension σ on the basis of data obtained when studying the mechanism of a layer‐wise growth of the soluble‐salts crystals. The essential data for calculating the values of σ by this method are the height and distance of the individual…

Robin J. H. Clark、Philip C. Turtle1978-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Dalton Transactions

The resonance-Raman spectra of the complexes [V(S2C2Ph2)3], [V(S2C2Ph2)3]–, and [M(mnt)3]2–(M = V, Mo, or W) have been recorded with a variety of exciting lines in the visible region. The results of this investigation are combined with an existing molecular-orbital scheme to produce a set of assignments for the electr…

John C. Dewan、Anthony J. Edwards、Gordon R. Jones1978-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Dalton Transactions

Crystals of Cs8Nb22O59 and Rb8Nb22O59are isomorphous. The structures of the two compounds have been determined by direct methods from 967 (Cs) and 791 (Rb) independent reflections, measured with a diffractometer, and refined by full-matrix least-squares methods to R 0.043 (Cs) and 0.102 (Rb). Crystals are rhombohedral…

Thermal behaviour of γ-MnO2 and some reduced forms in oxygen

John A. Lee、Colin E. Newnham、F. L. Tye 等 4 位作者1978-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Faraday Transactions 1 Physical Chemistry in Condensed Phases

The products obtained by partial chemical reduction of an electrodeposited γ-manganese dioxide have been studied by thermal analysis in an oxygen environment between room temperature and 725 K. Weight loss in the temperature range 430–520 K was independent of sample composition when up to 35 % of MnIV was replaced by…

On a nonexponential transformation equation for spherulitic crystallization

J. N. Hay、Zbigniew J. Przekop1978-01-01Journal of Polymer Science Polymer Physics Edition

Abstract An equation has been derived for the development of crystallinity from heterogeneously nucleated spherulites which impinge with a small number of neighboring but randomly centered spherulites. The crystallization‐time dependence calculated from the equation conforms to an Avrami equation with initial fraction…

Bi2TiO4F2–-a new one-layer perovskite-like ferroelectric

I. H. Ismailzade、J. Ravez1978-01-01Ferroelectrics

Dielectric investigations of the one-layer perovskite-like crystal Bi2TiO4F2 were carried out. It was shown that this material is ferroelectric with the Curie temperature Tc =11°C ± 0.5°C. The ferroelectric phase transition is accompanied by the change of unit cell symmetry C 20 2ν-Imm2 to D 4h-I4/mmm.

Treeing in solid extruded electrical insulation

R. M. Eichhorn1978-01-01Electronics and Power

Over 90% of failures in buried cables are caused by mechanical damage, and, of the remaining 10%, the cause is unknown. Trees have been found in the polyethylene insulation of cables that have failed in service, but nobody has established that treeing was the actual cause of failure. But, because of the increasingly s…

Stacking Fault Energy of Pure Nickel Evaluated from the Twinning Stress of Nickel-Based Alloys

Nobutaka Narita、Akitoshi Hatano、Jin-ichi Takamura 等 5 位作者1978-01-01Journal of the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials

Stacking fault energy γSF of fcc metals can be evaluated by knowing the twinning stress τT. In pure nickel, however, deformation twinning does not occur even at 4.2 K because of its high γSF. For this reason, measurements of τT for nickel-based alloys being subject to deformation twinning have been made, in order to e…

The Inhibitory Effect of SiO2 on the Anatase-Rutile Transition of TiO2

Yoko Suyama、Akio Kato1978-01-01Journal of the Ceramic Association Japan

The ninety-one types of isogonal tilings in the plane

Branko Grünbaum、G. C. Shephard1978-01-01Transactions of the American Mathematical Society

A tiling of the plane by closed topological disks of isogonal if its symmetries act transitively on the vertices of the tiling. Two isogonal tilings are of the same type provided the symmetries of the tiling relate in the same way every vertex in each to its set of neighbors. Isogonal…
