Paul V. Bernhardt、Bernadine M. Flanagan、Mark J. Riley2001-10-15Australian Journal of Chemistry

The CeIII, PrIII, NdIII, GdIII and YbIII complexes of the heptadentate ligand 2,2´,2´´-tris(salicylideneimino) triethylamine, H3trensal (in its trianionic form), have been synthesized and characterized structurally by X-ray crystallography. These five [Ln(trensal)] structures complete a rare isomorphous and isostructu…

Copper/Diamond Adhesion and Hydrogen Termination

Xiaogang Wang、John R. Smith2001-10-15Physical Review Letters

The clean Cu/diamond(111) work of separation is found to be $1.30\mathrm{J}/{\mathrm{m}}^{2}$. Copper $d$ and diamond $p$ states play a significant role in forming relatively strong Cu/diamond interfacial bonds, while reconstruction of the free diamond(111) surface lowers the work of separation. The single dangling bo…

Effect of silicate layer anisotropy on cylindrical and spherical microdomain ordering in block copolymer nanocomposites

Ramanan Krishnamoorti、Adriana S. Silva、Cynthia Mitchell2001-10-15The Journal of Chemical Physics

The influence of the addition of small quantities of anisotropic layered silicates on the ordering of block copolymers is studied by a combination of linear viscoelasticity and small angle neutron scattering. Specifically, we examine the influence of varying the lateral dimensions of thermodynamically roughly equivale…

Isotropic-nematic phase separation in asymmetrical rod-plate mixtures

H. H. Wensink、G. J. Vroege、H. N. W. Lekkerkerker2001-10-15The Journal of Chemical Physics

Recent experiments on mixtures of rodlike and platelike colloidal particles have uncovered the phase behavior of strongly asymmetrical rod-plate mixtures. In these mixtures, in which the excluded volume of the platelets is much larger than that of the rods, an extended isotropic (I)–plate-rich nematic (N−)–rod-rich ne…

We address several general questions about quantum transport through molecular systems by an ab initio analysis of a scandium-nitrogen doped ${C}_{80}$ metallofullerene device. Charge transfer from the ${\mathrm{Sc}}_{3}\mathrm{N}$ is found to drastically change the current-voltage characteristics: the current through…

Photoluminescent Silicate Microsticks Containing Aligned Nanodomains of Conjugated Polymers by Sol-Gel-Based In Situ Polymerization

Takuzo Aida、Keisuke Tajima2001-10-15Angewandte Chemie International Edition

Sticklike silicate materials containing aligned nanodomains of conjugated polymers were synthesized by sol-gel-based in situ polymerization of ammonium ion terminated diacetylenic surfactant monomers. Upon photoexcitation at 450 nm, the silicate microsticks emit a yellowish green luminescence centered at 550 nm.

Tuyoshi Honma、Yasuhiko Benino、Takayuki Komatsu 等 5 位作者2001-10-15The Journal of Chemical Physics

The structural relaxation kinetics in the glass transition for xSb2O3⋅(100−x)B2O3 glasses with covalent bonding character has been examined from viscosity and heat capacity measurements. These binary glasses have low glass transition temperatures, Tg=250–290 °C, but show a high thermal resistance against crystallizati…
