Electrochemical Fabrication of Highly Ordered Semiconductor and Metallic Nanowire Arrays

X. Y. Zhang、L. D. Zhang、Wei Chen 等 7 位作者2001-07-25Chemistry of Materials

In this article, we report the fabrication of highly ordered TiO 2 nanowire arrays by anodic oxidative hydrolysis of TiCl 3 within a hexagonal close-packed nanochannel alumina (NCA). The single-crystalline anatase TiO 2 nanowires with diameters about 15 nm and lengths about 6 μm are obtained after annealing at 500 °C.…

X-ray diffraction study of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNT) grown by arc discharge in hydrogen atmosphere is presented. It is found that the thermal-expansion coefficient along the radial direction of MWNT is widely distributed in a range from $1.6\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5} {\mathrm{K}}…

In our own work, we have recognized the benefits of Scheme 15 for the detection of mono-and bicyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. We have modified the rim of P-CD with an azamacrocycle, which ligates Eu3+ ion as the reporter site [405]. Tethered at only one nitrogen, the azacrown of 82 is able to swing away from the bottom…

Hexagonal Frank–Kasper phases interpreted as modulated crystals

Masaya Uchida、Yoshio Matsui2001-07-24Acta Crystallographica Section B Structural Science

The structures of the hexagonal Frank--Kasper phases F and K, which have been described in terms of the aggregation of clusters, are interpreted as modulated crystal structures. They are basically composed of two close-packed layers with ordered atomic vacancies rotated by 90 degrees to each other about their normal.

Following the explosion of Delta 241 (IIR-1) on January 17th, 1997, the failure investigation board concluded that the Graphite Epoxy Motorcases (GEM's) should be inspected for damage just prior to launch. Subsequent investigations and feedback from industry led to an Aerospace Corporation proposal to instrument the e…

Ammonia recycling and cadmium confinement in chemical bath deposition of CdS thin layers

B. Malinowska、M. Rakib、G. Durand2001-07-24Progress in Photovoltaics Research and Applications

Abstract Cadmium sulfide thin layers in polycrystalline solar cells are produced by chemical bath deposition (CBD). This process produces wastes containing ammonia and cadmium. These two chemicals must be recovered, and if possible recycled, from an environmental and economic point of view. A process has been implemen…

J. M. Lahtinen、Tuomo Hjelt、Tapio Ala-Nissilä 等 4 位作者2001-07-24Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics

We study the submonolayer diffusion of hard disks and rodlike molecules on smooth surfaces through numerical simulations and theoretical arguments. We concentrate on the behavior of the various diffusion coefficients as a function of the two-dimensional (2D) number density rho in the case where there are no explicit s…

Optical determination of flexoelectric coefficients and surface polarization in a hybrid aligned nematic cell

A. Mazzulla、Federica Ciuchi、J. R. Sambles2001-07-24Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics

We present an optical study of the influence of both the flexoelectric effect and surface polarization on a hybrid-aligned nematic cell using the half-leaky guided mode technique. Tilt angle profiles, obtained from fits of experimental data (reflectivity curves) taken under applied voltages, are compared with the ones…

Spin, Charge, and Orbital Ordering inLa0.5Sr1.5MnO4

Priya Mahadevan、K. Terakura、D. D. Sarma2001-07-24Physical Review Letters

We have analyzed the experimental evidence of charge and orbital ordering in La0.5Sr1.5MnO4 using first principles band structure calculations. Our results suggest the presence of two types of Mn sites in the system. One of the Mn sites behaves as an Mn3+ ion, favoring a Jahn-Teller distortion of the surrounding oxyge…

The US Army Corps of Engineers CBR method (Method S77-1) for the design of flexible aircraft pavements was calibrated against full-scale trafficking tests on unbound pavements conducted 30 years ago. The method used single layer analysis so had no direct mechanism for crediting bound layers for their superior load spr…

Large magnetoresistance and critical spin fluctuations inGdI2

Ilya Eremin、Peter Thalmeier、Peter Fulde 等 6 位作者2001-07-24Physical review. B, Condensed matter

The effect of the large negative magnetoresistance in layered ferromagnetic metal ${\mathrm{GdI}}_{2}$ has been explained on the basis of the $s\ensuremath{-}f$ exchange model. Assuming the Ornstein-Zernike form of the spin-spin correlation function for the two-dimensional case, we calculate the resistivity in the vic…

gamma-Ray irradiation of chitosan flakes and introduction of hydrophobic chains onto hydroxyl groups are discussed.
