Theory of Electromotive Force Induced by Domain Wall Motion

Shengyuan A. Yang、Di Xiao、Qian Niu2008-03-12arXiv

We formulate a theory on the dynamics of conduction electrons in the presence of moving magnetic textures in ferromagnetic materials. We show that the variation of local magnetization in both space and time gives rise to topological fields, which induce electromotive forces on the electrons. Universal results are obta…

On the Raman shift in nanosized crystals

M. Salis、P. C. Ricci、A. Anedda2008-03-12arXiv

An analytical form of the Raman shift dependence on size of nanocrystals is presented. Based on the hard confinement model, it works in those cases where the average phonon curve shows a quadratic dependence on the phonon quasi-momentum in the range of interest.

Ultrafast electron-phonon decoupling in graphite

Kunie Ishioka、Muneaki Hase、Masahiro Kitajima 等 6 位作者2008-03-12Physical Review B

We report the ultrafast dynamics of the $47.4\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{THz}$ coherent phonons of graphite interacting with a photoinduced nonequilibrium electron-hole plasma. Unlike conventional materials, upon photoexcitation the phonon frequency of graphite upshifts, and within a few picoseconds relaxes to…

Dye-Sensitized Nanostructured TiO2 Film Based Photoconductor

Jani Kallioinen、M. R. Hassan、G. S. Paraoanu 等 4 位作者2008-03-12arXiv

Grooves were etched in a conductive layer of a conductive, transparent glass, and a nanoporous TiO2 film was deposited on both the conductive and nonconductive area. The width of the grooves was 100 $μ$m and 150 $μ$m. A transparent TiO2 film was dye-sensitized, covered with an electrolyte, and sandwiched with a cover…

Full Potential Multiple Scattering for X-ray Spectroscopies

Keisuke Hatada、Kuniko Hayakawa、Maurizio Benfatto 等 4 位作者2008-03-12arXiv

We present a Full Potential Multiple Scattering (FP-MS) scheme for the interpretation of several X-ray spectroscopies that is a straightforward generalization of the more conventional Muffin-Tin (MT) version. Like this latter, it preserves the intuitive description of the physical process under consideration and overc…

Short-time transport properties in dense suspensions: From neutral to charge-stabilized colloidal spheres

Adolfo J. Banchio、Gerhard Nägele2008-03-12The Journal of Chemical Physics

We present a detailed study of short-time dynamic properties in concentrated suspensions of charge-stabilized and of neutral colloidal spheres. The particles in many of these systems are subject to significant many-body hydrodynamic interactions. A recently developed accelerated Stokesian dynamics (ASD) simulation met…

Carbon Nanotube−Polymer Nanocomposite Infrared Sensor

Basudev Pradhan、Kristina Setyowati、Haiying Liu 等 5 位作者2008-03-12Nano Letters

The infrared photoresponse in the electrical conductivity of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is dramatically enhanced by embedding SWNTs in an electrically and thermally insulating polymer matrix. The conductivity change in a 5 wt % SWNT-polycarbonate nanocomposite is significant (4.26%) and sharp upon infrared…

Surface Plasmon Coupling and Its Universal Size Scaling in Metal Nanostructures of Complex Geometry: Elongated Particle Pairs and Nanosphere Trimers

Prashant K. Jain、Mostafa A. El‐Sayed2008-03-12The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

Recently, we showed that the plasmon resonance coupling between two interacting metal nanoparticles decays with the interparticle separation (in units of particle size) with the same universal trend independent of particle size or shape, metal type, or medium. This universal scaling behavior has been shown to apply to…

Control over the preferred helical sense of a poly(n-hexyl isocyanate) (PHIC) by using a single light-driven molecular motor, covalently attached at the polymer's terminus, has been accomplished in solution via a combination of photochemical and thermal isomerizations.
