Thermal Expansion and Elastic Properties of Two‐Phase Ceramic Bodies

O. Hunter、Wayne Ernest Brownell1967-01-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The elastic properties and thermal expansion coefficients of two‐phase ceramic bodies were determined in order to study the effect of the difference in thermal expansions of the two phases. Room‐temperature elasticity was determined by a dynamic method. These values were extrapolated to theoretical density to obtain v…

On the electrical conductivity of calcium titanate crystals

G. A. Cox、R.H. Tredgold1967-01-01British Journal of Applied Physics

The electrical conductivity of calcium titanate crystals grown by flame-fusion and fluxed-melt methods has been studied. The conductivity of both types of crystals has been found to be time dependent and initial values between 10 -11 and 10 -13 ω -1 cm -1 are reported, depending upon the electrodes used. Ohmic behavio…

GeSeTe—A New Infrared-Transmitting Chalcogenide Glass*

James A. Muir、R. J. Cashman1967-01-01Journal of the Optical Society of America

This paper presents the results of measurements of the properties of GeSeTe, a new chalcogenide glass. When purified, the glass exhibits good transmission in the infrared between 2 and 18 μ. Electrically the glass behaves as a semiconductor with an energy band gap of 1.72 eV. Several other properties of GeSeTe and clo…

Properties of High Zirconium Cu-Zr-Cr Alloys and Their Isothermal Diagram of the Copper Corner

Ichiro Kawakatsu、Hisashi Suzuki、Hitoshi Kitano1967-01-01Journal of the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials

Some properties of Cu-Zr-Cr alloys containing more than about 0.5% zirconium and various amounts of chromium have been studied. The isothermal sections of copper corner of Cu-Zr-Cr equilibrium diagram mainly at 950° and 900°C have also been studied. The results obtained were as follows.(1) The properties of the alloys…

valency angle' for sodium pyrophosphate is 127 . Of the three bond lengths in the -PO 3 group, P-O(3) = 1.512/~ is slightly the shortest. This seems to correlate with the involvement of 0(3) in the smallest O-P-O(1) angle, since a similar effect occurs in the above three sulphates.

Roth's method for the solution of boundary-value problems in electrical engineering

P. Hammond1967-01-01Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers

Between the years 1927 and 1938 the French engineer E. Roth developed a powerful method for the solution of boundary-value problems in electrical engineering. He applied the method to problems in heat conduction and magnetic-field problems in electrical machines and transformers, although the application of the method…

Polyimide fibers

R. S. Irwin、W. Sweeny1967-01-01Journal of Polymer Science Part C Polymer Symposia

Abstract The excellent high temperature properties of aromatic polyimides, well known in films and enamels, have also been demonstrated in fibers. Current investigations show that experimental aromatic polyimide fibers have a very high level of thermal and dimensional stability and property retention at high temperatu…

Kinetic study of aminolysis of poly(vinylene carbonate) and related model compounds

V. D. Nemirovsky、S.S. Skorokhodov1967-01-01Journal of Polymer Science Part C Polymer Symposia

Abstract The kinetics of poly(vinylene carbonate) (PVC) and ethylene carbonate (EC) aminolysis with n ‐butylamine (BA) in DMF solution was investigated. The EC aminolysis is catalyzed by final product and by BA itself but the reaction kinetics follows satisfactorily the equation – d [BA]/ dr = k [BA][EC]; k 2 increase…

Magnetoconductivity of Trigonal Selenium Single Crystals

H. Mell、J. Stuke1967-01-01physica status solidi (b)

Abstract Six of the eight magnetoconductivity components of trigonal Se are measured up to 30 kG over the temperature range 83 to 300 °K. Unlike the Hall mobility, which increases exponentially with temperature, the magnetoconductivity mobility decreases with rising temperature and, at high temperatures, is approximat…

The Effect of Catalysts on the Formation of Ether-links in the Preparation of Poly (Ethylene Terephthalate)

Kentaro Yoda1967-01-01Kobunshi Kagaku

Elizabeth Rhodes、W. Ewen Smith、A. R. Ubbelohde1967-01-01Transactions of the Faraday Society

Binary mixtures of calcium nitrate with potassium nitrate can be supercooled extensively below their normal solidus temperatures. Comparable binary mixtures have now been studied with sodium, rubidium or caesium as the monovalent cation. Viscosities are in the sequence Na>Cs>Rb>K at high temperatures. On progressive c…
