Physical properties of stoichiometric and non stoichiometric CuO are reported. The electrical conductivity has been measured on CuO pellets, sintered with the usual procedure for the preparation of Y Ba-Cu O superconductors and then deoxygenated under a nitrogen flow. It is shown that oxygen deficient CuO pellets pres…

Impact strength of nylon 6 was more than tripled by incorporation of 10% low-density polyethylene, ethylene/acrylic acid copolymers, or chlorinated polyethylenes. Chlorinated polyethylenes containing 36-42% of chlorine generally gave best retention of tensile and flexural modulus and strength characteristics.

The influence of heat treatment (heating followed by quenching prior to charging) on charge storage in fluoroethylenepropylene (FEP) and polypropylene (PP) foils is studied by a corona discharge or by a mono-energetic electron beam. The variables which affect the charge decay time and the TSD (thermally stimulated dis…

Abstract The XPS (x–ray photoelectron spectroscopy) O1s spectrum of PET [poly(ethylene terephthalate)] was examined in detail. Spectra of related compounds were also studied for comparison. The O1s peak profile of asymmetric doublet with π–π * satellites characteristic of PET was successfully explained both from compa…

An analysis is presented of the effect of tilt in the high-strain-rate pressure-shear plate impact experiment. Normal and shear tractions and the velocity difference across the specimen are obtained from free-surface particle velocity, tilt angle, closure direction, and impact velocity data. The effect of tilt in high…

The effect of additives on DC treeing breakdown phenomena and space-charge formation in polymeric materials is studied under divergent fields. Experimental results are presented to show that: (1) The DC treeing breakdown phenomena are considerably affected by the space charge. (2) The presence of acetophenon in low-de…

Abstract Polymeric catenanes have been made from poly(2,6‐dimethyl‐1,4‐phenylene oxide) crosslinked in the presence of several, paucidisperse poly(dimethylsiloxane) cyclics of varying degrees of polymerization. The fraction of cyclic threaded or captured by the polymer network increases as the degree polymerization of…
