C. K. Kim、Manuel Aguilar‐Vega、Donald R. Paul1992-09-01Journal of Polymer Science Part B Polymer Physics

Abstract Dynamic mechanical and gas transport properties for homogeneous homopolymer blends and random copolymers of bisphenol‐A and tetramethyl bisphenol‐A polycarbonates (PC‐TMPC) were determined. The gas transport measurements were performed at 35°C for the gases He, H 2 , O 2 , Ar, N 2 , CH 4 , and CO 2 . The resu…

Joining SiAlON Ceramics Using Composite β‐SiAlON–Glass Adhesives

Philip A. Walls、Masanori Ueki1992-09-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Commercial β‐SiAlON ceramics were joined using mixed Si 3 N 4 , Y 2 O 3 , Al 2 O 3 , and SiO 2 powders. At a joining temperature of 1600°C and a hold time in excess of 10 min, the adhesive was converted to an approximate 60:40 vol% composite of β‐SiAlON–glass‐ceramic. The grain size of the acicular β‐SiAlON grains pre…

A study of the undercutting characteristics in the TMAH-IPA system

Á. Merlos、M.C. Acero、Ming Bao 等 5 位作者1992-09-01Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering

A new etching system of tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide-2-propanol (TMAH-IPA) is suggested. The undercutting ratio for TMAH at 80 degrees C is about 7, much higher than for KOH etchants. The addition of IPA in the TMAH system maintains the main features of TMAH and reduces the undercutting ratio by a factor of 2-3.

Interaction of Ag/Pd Metallization with Lead and Bismuth Oxide‐Based Fluxes in Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors

Sea Fue Wang、Wayne Huebner1992-09-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

An ongoing challenge for future developments in high‐performance ceramic multilayer capacitors and integrated ceramics is to reduce the internal electrode cost and thickness without sacrificing yield or reliability. Key to these developments is a thorough understanding of the interactions which occur between flux‐sint…

Birefringence Patterns of Nematic Droplets

Jiandong Ding Yang1992-09-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

Birefringence patterns of nematic liquid crystalline droplets are investigated both theoretically and experimentally. Gridding method is developed to calculate optical birefringence patterns of nematic droplets with different director configurations. Series of birefringence patterns of the four typical nematic droplet…

Texture, Mineralogy, and Lamellae Development in Sandy Soils in Michigan

Randall J. Schaetzl1992-09-01Soil Science Society of America Journal

Abstract The texture, mineralogy, and to a lesser extent topography, of some sandy soils in Michigan were examined to determine the possible genesis of lamellae in these soils. Differences in lamellae presence and depth were studied in four Haplorthods, one Argic Udipsamments, and one Psammentic Eutroboralf on a subtl…

Structural effects induced by mutagenesis affected by crystal packing factors: The structure of a 30–51 disulfide mutant of basic pancreatic trypsin inhibitor

Charles Eigenbrot、M. Randal、Anthony A. Kossiakoff1992-09-01Proteins Structure Function and Bioinformatics

The X-ray structure of the C30V/C51A disulfide mutant of basic pancreatic trypsin inhibitor (BPTI) has been analyzed at 1.6 A resolution. The mutant crystallizes in a cell having two molecules in the asymmetric unit. The packing environments of these two molecules are quite different, allowing for an assessment of whi…

The demixing and gas–liquid instability of a binary Yukawa fluid

X. S. Chen、F. Forstmann1992-09-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

For a binary mixture we relate the second order expansion of the grand canonical potential Ω to direct correlation functions and to thermodynamic expressions. The matrix of second functional derivatives of Ω with respect to the particle density fluctuations is diagonalized. The zero of the smallest eigenvalue indicate…

NAD+-Linked Isocitrate Dehydrogenase: Isolation, Purification, and Characterization of the Protein from Pea Mitochondria

Cecilia A. McIntosh、David J. Oliver1992-09-01PLANT PHYSIOLOGY

The NAD(+)-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase from etiolated pea (Pisum sativum L.) mitochondria was purified more than 200-fold by dye-ligand binding on Matrix Gel Blue A and gel filtration on Superose 6. The enzyme was stabilized during purification by the inclusion of 20% glycerol. In crude matrix extracts, the enz…
