The Theory of the Cantilever Stiffness Test

Mingdong Wei1989-01-01Journal of the Textile Institute

An approximate theoretical analysis of the cantilever stiffness test is presented. This yields convenient formulae for calculating the bending parameters of fabrics. The formulae show good agreement with Peirce's empirical equation and reasonable agreement with Grosberg and Swani's graphical method.

Hydrogen Disbonding of Stainless Clad Steels by Cathodic Current

Takahiro Kushida、Takeo Kudo1989-01-01鐵と鋼 : 日本鐡鋼協會々誌

Hydrogen disbonding of stainless clad steels was examined by "in-situ detection method", which is composed of ultrasonic wave inspection and cathodic hydrogen charging. Disbonding cracks occurred in the hard martensitic layers in the interface region between high alloy and carbon steel. Ni and Cr in the high alloy dif…

Preparation of Polymetalloxanes as a Precursor for Oxide Fibers from Metal Chelate Complex

Yoshimoto Abe、Yoshinori Kimata、Takahiro Gunji 等 5 位作者1989-01-01Journal of the Ceramic Society of Japan

Precursor fibers for MxOy (M=Al, Ti, Zr) were prepared by a new method via polymetalloxanes (PMO) prepared by hydrolytic polycondensation of chelate complexes of aluminium, titanium and zirconium. The chelates were prepared by the reaction of corresponding metal iso-propoxides with ethyl acetoacetate. A solution of PM…

Permalloy multilayers to reduce the effects of uniaxial anisotropy

Johan W. Wieberdink、Kees Eijkel1989-01-01IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

The anisotropic magnetoresistance effect of Permalloy (Ni/sub 0.82/Fe/sub 0.18/) is used in a contactless angle detector. The uniaxial magnetic anisotropy in a Permalloy thin film causes a difference between the direction of magnetization and the magnetic field direction. This leads to a systematic error in the angle…

Breakdown phenomena of gas-insulated gaps with nanosecond pulses

Yukimitsu Kawada、Tatsuzo Hosokawa1989-01-01Journal of Applied Physics

Breakdown phenomena of gas-insulated gaps with nanosecond pulses were examined under the spot illumination of the ultraviolet rays on the cathode surface in the atmospheric gases such as air, N2, and O2. Our investigation reveals that the 50% probability of flashover voltage obtained under the spot illumination of the…

The Monophase Model for Magnesium‐Saturated Montmorillonite

J. A. Kittrick、Frank J. Peryea1989-01-01Soil Science Society of America Journal

Abstract Solubility data for Belle Fourche montmorillonite plotted on 2pH — pMg 2+ vs. pSi (OH) 0 4 axes, demonstrate that the monophase model can accurately represent smectite formulas in hydrolysis reactions. The smectite was equilibrated with gibbsite and goethite over a pH range of 3.26 to 8.16. Equilibration was…

Mechanical relaxation processes in polyether block amide copolymers (PEBA)

Nicole Albérola、A. Vassel、J. Christophe Helluin1989-01-01Makromolekulare Chemie Macromolecular Symposia

Abstract Dynamic mechanical experiments were carried out on a series of polyether block amide copolymers based on poly(tetramethylene oxide) and polyamide 12 with varying PE/PA weight ratio. Internal friction spectra exhibited three main peaks related to the subglass transition of the soft segments, the glass transiti…

It was previously shown that among fishes in the suborder Salmonoidei, chum salmon and rainbow trout which belong to Salmonidae possessed the skin Type I collagens with a subunit composition of α1α2α3, contrasted to the collagen with (α1)2α2 of ayu which belongs to Plecoglossidae. In this study, soluble skin and/or mu…

The moisture sorption isotherm was determined primarily at 30°C for fifteen kinds of wool and hair fibers from sheep, goat, camel, and rabbit families. The isotherm was analyzed in terms of Brunauer, Emmett and Teller (B. E. T.)'s parameters: C (adsorptive energy factor), vm (maximum volume of adsorbed water in monola…

According to Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, ‘Discovery consists of looking at the same thing as everyone else and thinking something different.’ The ideas and suggestions presented in this chapter do not quite satisfy Szent-Gyorgyi’s paradigm, since some new facts were added to the older data. However, the previously available…
