Trap levels in thin layers (500 to 6000Å) of Al2O3 and various types of SiO2, all on Si substrates, were investigated using thermoluminescence glow curves in a temperature range from 30° to 300°C. Layers were studied which had been exposed to doses of Co60-gamma radiation up to several Mrads. Previously unirradiated S…

In 1958 exposure tests were started in Sweden to gain knowledge of the natural patination and the corrosion behavior of copper and copper alloys when used outdoors. The investigation covered 36 alloys in sheet or rod form: 5 coppers, 20 brasses, 5 phosphor bronzes, 1 silicon bronze, 1 aluminum bronze, 1 cadmium bronze…

Abstract Maximum stacking fault energies for α‐type stacking faults in the b.c.c. lattice are estimated for the group Va and VIa transition metals and iron. The half widths of glissile type split screw dislocations should be in all cases at least one total Burgers vector.

The electronic spectra of a number of compounds of manganese(II) in which the metal is surrounded by an octahedral arrangement of halogen atoms have been analysed, and values for the Racah parameters, B and C, and the ligand-field parameters, Δ, calculated. The compounds include MnX2(X = F, Cl, Br, I), (MeNH3)2MnCl4,…

Abstract The magnetic properties of TiFe 2 and ZrFe 2 are investigated within their homogeneity range in dependence on the concentration. TiFe 2 is antiferromagnetic at titanium excess and at stoichiometric composition and it is ferromagnetic at iron excess. ZrFe 2 is ferromagnetic throughout the whole homogeneity ran…

Fabrication of experimental insulated-gate field-effect transistors on single crystal ZnO is described. Measured transconductance of 10 µmhos is two orders of magnitude smaller than that predicted for this structure by the Hall mobility of 220 cm2/V ċ s. Threshold voltage indicates relatively large values of surface s…

A comparison is drawn between the thermal behaviour of poly-[2,2-propane-bis-(4-phenyl carbonate)] and the model compound diphenyl carbonate. On this basis a rearrangement mechanism is suggested to account for the main chemical and physical features of the degradation of the polymer between 300 and 389°.

Spectra of some rare earth activated phosphors, where may be Y, Gd, or La, are presented. The most efficient phosphors, particularly in the matrix, are those activated by Sm +3 , Eu +3 , and Dy +3 . It is shown that has an output efficiency comparable to commercial phosphors. , when properly prepared, has an output in…
