Shot noise in the graphene-based double-barrier structures

Rui Zhu、Yong Guo2007-12-17Applied Physics Letters

The authors investigated shot noise properties in the graphene-based double barriers. The shot noise with the Fano factor equal to 1∕3 is found to occur at all conductance minimums including the Dirac point, which is a combined result of Klein tunneling, resonant tunneling, and quasiparticle chirality. The similarity…

First Observation of α‐Ca 2 [SiO 3 (OH)](OH)–Ca 6 [Si 2 O 7 ][SiO 4 ](OH) 2 Phase Transformation upon Thermal Treatment in Air

Krassimir Garbev、Biliana Gasharova、Günter Beuchle 等 5 位作者2007-12-17Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Thermal treatment transforms α‐Ca 2 [SiO 3 (OH)](OH) (α‐C 2 SH) into hydraulic Ca 2 SiO 4 polymorphs, which is a process of considerable interest to the cement chemistry community. The thermal behavior of differently synthesized samples of α‐C 2 SH in air at ambient pressure has been investigated in detail by high‐tem…

Interfacial coherency and ferroelectricity of BaTiO3∕SrTiO3 superlattice films

Yulan Li、Shenyang Hu、D. A. Ténné 等 12 位作者2007-12-17Applied Physics Letters

We studied the phase transitions, domain morphologies, and polarizations in BaTiO3∕SrTiO3 superlattices grown on SrTiO3 substrates. Using the phase field approach, we discovered the remarkable influence of film/substrate interfacial coherency on the ferroelectricity of the SrTiO3 layers within a superlattice: it is an…

Pairs and heptamers of C70 molecules ordered via PTCDI-melamine supramolecular networks

Fabien Silly、Adam Q. Shaw、Kyriakos Porfyrakis 等 5 位作者2007-12-17Applied Physics Letters

In this paper, we report on the use of two PTCDI-melamine supramolecular networks on Au(111) to trap C70 molecules. The different supramolecular networks were formed by changing the postannealing temperature after molecular deposition. We observed, using scanning tunneling microscopy, that the deposition of C70 onto a…

Multiwavelength Raman spectroscopy of diamond nanowires present inn-type ultrananocrystalline films

Raúl Arenal、Gilles Montagnac、P. Bruno 等 4 位作者2007-12-17Physical Review B

Multiwavelength Raman spectroscopy is employed to investigate ultrananocrystalline diamond films deposited by the plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique. Recently, we have shown that the addition of nitrogen in the gas source during synthesis induce the formation of diamond $n$-type films, exhibiting the…

Structural and electronic properties of NM-doped ceria (NM = Pt, Rh): a first-principles study

Zongxian Yang、Gaixia Luo、Zhansheng Lu 等 5 位作者2007-12-17Journal of Physics Condensed Matter

The effects of noble metal (NM) dopants (NM = Pt, Rh) on the structural and electronic properties of ceria are studied using a density functional theory (DFT) method, with the inclusion of on-site Coulomb interaction (DFT+ U ). It is found that these NM dopants give rise to large perturbations of the atomic and electr…

Regulating Enzymatic Activity with a Photoswitchable Affinity Label

Jessica H. Harvey、Dirk Trauner2007-12-17ChemBioChem

Best PALs. We have applied a photoswitchable affinity label (PAL) to the optical control of protein function. Atomic-scale mechanistic features of oxide ion conduction in apatite-type germanates

Emma Kendrick、M. Saïful Islam、Peter R. Slater2007-12-17Chemical Communications

Atomistic modelling studies of the apatite-type oxide ion conductor La9.33(GeO4)6O2 show that a key role of the O4 channel oxygen atoms appears to be as a reservoir for the creation of interstitial oxide ion defects, while the migration of these defects proceeds via the GeO4 tetrahedra.

J. D. Baena、Lukáš Jelínek、R. Marqués2007-12-17Physical Review B

In this paper, a systematic approach to the design of bulk isotropic magnetic metamaterials is presented. The roles of the symmetries of both the constitutive element and the lattice are analyzed. For this purpose, it is assumed that the metamaterial is composed of cubic split ring resonators (SRRs) arranged in a cubi…
