The density of liquid sulfur near the polymerization temperature

K. M. Zheng、Sandra C. Greer1992-02-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

We have measured the density of liquid sulfur as a function of temperature near the polymerization temperature. We measure between 424 and 445 K, with a precision in density of 2×10−5 and an accuracy of 5×10−4. We see upward shifts of the density within 3 K of the polymerization temperature of about 8×10−4 with each c…

In Vivo Assessment of Neovascularization and Incorporation of Prosthetic Vascular Biografts

Michael D. Menger、F. Hammersen、K. Meßmer1992-02-01The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon

Neovascularization plays a major role in prosthetic vascular graft healing. New developments in manufacturing biomaterials have encouraged the use of biological and biosynthetic materials for both arterial replacement and bypass procedures. We have analyzed in vivo the process of neovascularization and incorporation o…

Luminescence Properties and Energy Transfer of Eu2+ Doped Ca8Mg ( SiO4 ) 4Cl2 Phosphors

Xiao Zhang、Xingren Liu1992-02-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

The synthesis and luminescence characteristics of Eu 2+ activated calcium magnesium chlorosilicate, Ca 8 Mg ( SiO 4 ) 4 Cl 2 , have been reported and analyzed. The emission spectrum of Eu 2+ is composed of two separate bands with peaks at 507 and 428 nm, which result from the Eu 2+ centers in different crystallographi…

R. S. Quimby、W. J. Miniscalco、Barbara A. Thompson1992-02-01Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE

Excited state absorption (ESA) spectra were measured for the 4I11/2? 4F7/2 transition at 980 nm in Er-doped fluoride and fluorophosphate glass, by varying the pump wavelength from a tunable Ti:sapphire laser and monitoring the relative strength of the green upconverted fluorescence. The ESA cross section spectra are t…

Calculation of the Neutron Ambient Dose Equivalent on the Basis of the ICRP Revised Quality Factors

G. Leuthold、V. Mares、H. Schraube1992-02-01Radiation Protection Dosimetry

On the basis of new radiobiological findings, the ICRP has recently revised the LET dependence of the quality factor Q(LET) for charged particles. In consequence, many in phantom defined radiation protection quantities have to be re-evaluated. Among these, the most important operational quantity in radiation protectio…
