Heme proteins and metalloporphyrins: Redox chemistry and oxygen binding

David Dolphin、Anthony W. Addison、Max Cairns 等 8 位作者1979-08-01International Journal of Quantum Chemistry

Abstract Metalloporphyrins perform a variety of functions in nature from the storage and transport of electrons and molecular oxygen to the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and the activation of oxygen. The chemistry of both the centrally coordinated metal and the porphyrin macrocycle play important roles in these r…

The Influence of Velocity and Dissolved Oxygen on the Initial Corrosion Behavior of Iron in High Purity Water

Z. A. Foroulis1979-08-01CORROSION

The electrochemical “polarization resistance” method (also known as “linear polarization” method) was used in conjunction with a rotating iron electrode to investigate the effect of velocity and dissolved oxygen on the initial corrosion behavior of iron in high purity water. In low concentration, dissolved oxygen is c…

Electron-Beam-Induced Conduction in Polystyrene

Jun Kyokane、Shiniji Harada、Katsumi Yoshino 等 4 位作者1979-08-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

The carrier mobilities of PS were studied using a short-pulsed electron-beam. Even in the polymer with a π-electron system, no clear knee was observed in the induced charge signals at low applied fields. A logarithmic plot of the induced current versus time gives a knee at time T r , which is thought to be the transit…

Voigt function fit of X-ray and neutron powder diffraction profiles

P. Suortti、Maija Ahtee、L. Unonius1979-08-01Journal of Applied Crystallography

The Voigt function fit to the experimental powder diffraction profiles of Ni, measured with neutrons and X-rays, is studied. In the neutron case the instrumental factors are dominant while the X-ray profiles are determined by the size and strains of the crystallites. The neutron diffraction profiles fit very well down…

Orientation dependence of electron–irradiation damage in zinc oxide

T. Yoshiie、H. Iwanaga、N. Shibata 等 5 位作者1979-08-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

The threshold voltage for zinc displacement in ZnO by electron irradiation lias been determined by high–voltage electron microscopy as a function of incident orientation from the [2110] to both the [0001] and [000T] directions. It is found that the threshold voltage is a minimum (∼700kV) in the [2110] direction and a…

On Tree-Inhibition in Polyethylene

R. Pätsch1979-08-01IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation

During a series of experiments aimed at developing a better understanding of the basic mechanisms of electrical treeing in polymer insulations, the dependence nce of the dc conductivity of polyethyle ( with and without additives) on temperature and field strength was examined. It was discovered that all additives, and…

Mechanical and dielectric relaxation in cellulose esters

R. W. Seymour、S. Weinhold、S. K. Haynes1979-08-01Journal of Macromolecular Science Part B

The dynamic mechanical and dielectric relaxations of plasticized and un-plasticized cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate propionate, and cellulose acetate butyrate were characterized. Three relaxations common to all compositions were found (α, β, and γ), while a fourth (5) was observed only in cellulose acetate butyra…

Purification and Some Properties of Two NADP+-Specific Isocitrate Dehydrogenases from an Obligately Psychrophilic Marine Bacterium, Vibrio sp., Strain ABE-1

Toshiro Ochiai、Noriyuki Fukunaga、Shoji Sasaki1979-08-01The Journal of Biochemistry

Two isozymes of NADP+-specific isocitrate dehydrogenase [ICDH; EC 1.1.1.42] were confirmed to be present in an obligately psychrophilic marine bacterium, Vibrio sp., strain ABE-1, on the basis of the temperature-activity curve and electrophoretic mobilities. These isozymes were separated and purified about 170-fold fo…

Magnetoelastic waves in a ferromagnetic film on a nonmagnetic substrate

R. E. Camley1979-08-01Journal of Applied Physics

We present a theoretical study of the propagation of magnetoelastic waves in a ferromagnetic film bonded to a nonmagnetic substrate. We find magnetoelastic waves which correspond to both Rayleigh waves and Love waves modified by the magnetoelastic interaction. Deviations from the elastic-wave characteristics are found…

Kinetics of imidization and crosslinking in PMR polyimide resin

R. W. Lauver1979-08-01Journal of Polymer Science Polymer Chemistry Edition

Abstract Infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry were used to study the imidization and crosslinking kinetics of norbornenyl‐capped addition type of polyimide resins (designated PMR for polymerization of monomer reactants). The spectral and thermal analyses were performed on resin specimens that ha…

The Study of the Passivation Films on Fe‐Cr Alloys by Modulation Spectroscopy

Nobuyoshi Hara、Katsuhisa Sugimoto1979-08-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

In order to gain a better understanding of the change in the film composition as a function of the Cr content of an alloy or the electrode potential, surface analyses by modulation spectroscopy were performed on a series of Fe‐Cr alloys (5–70 weight percent Cr), pure Cr, and pure Fe at various anodic potentials in an…

Electronic structure of CuCl

Alex Zunger、Marvin L. Cohen1979-08-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

The electronic band structure of zinc-blende CuCl is computed using a self-consistent, first-principles, all-electron approach. The calculated energy levels agree with photoemission results and support a minimum-direct-gap interpretation of the optical data. Contrary to the indirect model proposed by Rusakov and used…

A dislocation theory of crystal melting and of glasses

S. F. Edwards、M. Warner1979-08-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

The dislocation theory of the liquid state is refined by an accurate assessment of the interaction energy between dislocations. This shows a screening phenomenon which gives a first-order transition rather than the second-order transition of simpler theories. Within this framework, a theory of glass is constructed in…
