Oliver J. Murphy、Jesse S. Wainright、J. J. Lenczewski 等 5 位作者1989-11-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

Porous anodic alumina films grown in sulfuric acid and similar specimens sealed in nickel acetate and dichromate sealing baths were subjected to a number of surface and bulk analytical techniques (XPS, RBS, SIMS, and XRD). All the oxide films were found to be amorphous‐like in nature, to contain significant amounts of…

Quantitative electron microprobe analysis of ultrathin gold films on substrates

Kenji Murata、Katsuya Sugiyama1989-11-01Journal of Applied Physics

The thickness of gold thin films of 0.1–100 nm on Si substrates has been measured with an electron probe microanalyzer. The analysis process is as follows. k ratio versus thickness calibration curves are produced through use of a Monte Carlo simulation of electron scattering based on the Mott cross sections for elasti…

The calcium binding capacity of polycarboxylates

Fellx H. Richter、Ekhard W. Winkler、R. Baur1989-11-01Journal of the American Oil Chemists Society

Abstract It can be shown both theoretically and experimentally that calcium carbonate forms during the titration of polycarboxylates by calcium with carbonate as the indicator, and that the calcium carbonate is dispersed by the polycarboxylate. If the dispersing capacity of the polymer exceeds the level of calcium car…

Li7O2Br3 — Eine weitere Strukturvariante der neuen Alkalimetallchalkogenidhalogenid-Perowskite / Li7O2Br3 — A Further Structure Variant of the New Alkali Metal Chalcogenide Halide Perovskites

R. Wortmann、Stephan Sitta、Horst Sabrowsky1989-11-01Zeitschrift für Naturforschung B

The colourless compounds Li 3 OBr and Li 7 O 2 Br 3 have been prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction techniques. Li 3 OBr crystallizes in a cubic primitive lattice (Pm3m) with a = 405.6(1) pm (Z = 1). The structure is related to the anti-perovskite type. Li 7 O 2 Br 3 crystallizes in a tetragonal bodycentered…

C. Beckermann、R. Viskanta1989-11-01Chemical Engineering Communications

An experimental study is reported of solidification of ammonium chloride-water solutions inside a rectangular enclosure. The phase-change and convection processes are studied through shadowgraph and flow visualization as well as temperature and concentration measurements. A number of different initial and boundary con…

The optical properties of a polyetherimide

H. R. Philipp、Donald G. Le Grand、H. S. Cole 等 4 位作者1989-11-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract The optical properties of polyetherimide resin as described by the complex index of refraction, N = n ‐ ik, are derived by Kramers‐Kronig analysis of experimental absorption and reflectance data obtained in the range 40 μm ≥ λ ≥105 nm. Potential uses of this polymer as a printed circuit board material and as…

J. Pelka、M. Weiß、W Hoppe 等 4 位作者1989-11-01Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B Microelectronics Processing and Phenomena

A simulation study is presented using a new version of the simulation program ADEPT (advanced simulation of dry-etching process technology), which is a subset of the process simulator COMPOSITE. Based on some aspects of plasma physics, a model was developed that allows for the calculation of important properties of a…

Electrochromic properties of rf-sputtered tungstic oxide film prepared from a W metal target

Hossain Akram、Michihiko Kitao、Shôji Yamada1989-11-01Journal of Applied Physics

Tungstic oxide film is prepared from a W metal target by the rf sputtering method and its electrochromic characteristics are compared with that from WO3 target. Maximum coloration efficiency found for both kinds of films are equal and about 0.06 cm2 /mC at the wavelength of 600 nm, which is higher than that of typical…

Resonance Raman studies on tetradesmethyl‐β‐carotene aggregates

Hiromi Okamoto、Hiro‐o Hamaguchi、Mitsuo Tasumi1989-11-01Journal of Raman Spectroscopy

Abstract Tetradesmethyl‐β‐carotene is found to form aggregates in a mixed solvent of methylcyclohexane and isopentane at temperatures below 180 K. The absorption band around 470 nm (0–0 transition) of the monomer splits into a pair of absorptions (exciton bands) on aggregation, one around 400 nm and the other around 5…

Arsenic Deposition onto a Gold Substrate

Thomas Dinan、W. ‐F. Jou、H. Y. Cheh1989-11-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

Arsenic deposition onto a gold substrate was studied as a function of p H, deposition potential, and time. Deposition of less than three monolayers was observed. The rate of deposition decreased as the thickness of the deposit increased. A set of partial reactions leading to arsenic deposition was proposed. The kineti…

A Model to Estimate the Breaking Elongation of High Twist Ring Spun Cotton Yarns

S.K. Aggarwal1989-11-01Textile Research Journal

A mathematical model has been evolved to estimate the breaking elongation of highly twisted (3 < TM < 6) singles ring spun cotton yams from fiber characteristics. Results show that the accuracy of estimation of the proposed model is very high. The model is applicable to both carded and combed cottons.

Carbon Dioxide Corrosion of L-80 Grade Tubular in Flowing Oil-Brine Two-Phase Environments

Hojoong Choi、R. L. Cepulis、J. B. Lee1989-11-01CORROSION

The sweet corrosion behavior of L-80 grade downhole tubular was investigated in flowing two-phase oil-brine fluids. Depending upon percent water cut, two different phases appeared to exist: a water-continuous phase above 50% water cut and an oil-continuous phase below 50% water cut. In the oil-continuous phase, the pr…
