An Improved Method of Designing Isotropic Multilayered Spherical Cloak for Electromagnetic Invisibility

Mingji Chen、Pei Yong-Mao、Fang Dai-Ning2010-03-01Chinese Physics Letters

The classic anisotropic spherical cloak can be mimicked by many alternating thin layers of isotropic metamaterials [Qiu et al. Phys. Rev. E 79 (2009) 047602 ]. We propose an improved method of designing permittivity and permeability in each isotropic layer, which eliminates the jumping of the refractive index at the i…

Thermal and frictional properties of modified sisal fibre/phenolic resin composites

Chun Wei、Ming Zeng、Xiaoyang Xiong 等 4 位作者2010-03-01Plastics Rubber and Composites Macromolecular Engineering

In order to enhance the bonding force of sisal fibres (SF) and polymer matrix, different surface modifiers (alkali, coupling agent and borax) were used to treat the fibres. The SF/phenol formaldehyde (PF) resin composites were prepared through compression moulding. Thermal properties of the treated SFs and fibre compo…

Kaolin mining and beneficiation: The role of iron

E. Murad、José Domingos Fabris2010-03-01Journal of Physics Conference Series

Mössbauer spectra of raw kaolins generally comprise components from iron bound in the structures of kaolinite minerals and iron in ancillary minerals. Of the latter, iron oxides are among the most detrimental to industrial uses. Although a distinction of structural and oxidic iron is generally possible if the oxides a…

Liquid Oxide Flow during Oxidation of Zirconium Diboride-Silicon Carbide Ultra High Temperature Ceramics

Sindhura Gangireddy、Sigrún N. Karlsdóttir、John W. Halloran2010-03-01Key engineering materials

Recent ideas on the oxidation of ZrB2-SiC are presented, emphasizing the behavior of the boria-silica-zirconia liquid (BSZ liquid) which forms during oxidation and flows to transport silica and zirconia to the surface of the scale. Oxide film microstructure is strongly influenced by the boron oxide, which acts as a vo…

Attempts have been made to synthesize nano-polycrystalline diamond (NPD) from graphite at pressures of 12, 13 and 14 GPa at temperatures 2200-2600°C using multi-anvil apparatus. The lower temperature limit for NPD formation increased with decreasing pressure, and we found that pure NPD can be synthesized even at the l…
