Hideki Hirori、Takehiro Tachizaki、Osamu Matsuda 等 4 位作者2003-09-16Physical review. B, Condensed matter

Electron excitation and relaxation in chromium are probed with 20-fs time resolution using an ultrafast optical technique. We obtain good fits to the data for the transient reflectivity and transmittivity changes in a thin film using a simple model of electron relaxation, suggesting the existence of an efficient elect…

Meissner response of anisotropic superconductors

V. G. Kogan2003-09-16Physical review. B, Condensed matter

The response field of a half-space anisotropic superconductor is evaluated for an arbitrary weak external field source. Example sources of a point magnetic moment and a circular current are considered in detail. For the penetration depth $\ensuremath{\lambda}\ensuremath{\ll}L$ with L being any other relevant distance…

Xiaoyong Zhao、Qing Cai、Guixin Shi 等 5 位作者2003-09-16Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract Recently a method that uses water droplets at the air–solution interface as an ordered template was reported for the preparation of ordered micrometer‐size honeycomb structures. Here we show that the method can also be used for formation of honeycomb‐like porous films from random copolymers with certain hydro…

Electron–optical phonon interaction in carbon nanotubes

G. D. Mahan2003-09-16Physical review. B, Condensed matter

The electron-phonon interaction is calculated for electrons states in single wall carbon nanotubes. Explicit results are presented for armchair and zig-zag tubes. The scattering by acoustical phonons confirm earlier results, while the scattering by optical phonons is new.

Bin Jiang、Jian‐Min Zuo、Jesper Friis 等 4 位作者2003-09-16Microscopy and Microanalysis

The same Bragg reflection in TiO2 from 12 different (CBED) patterns (from different crystals, orientations, and thicknesses) are analyzed quantitatively to evaluate the consistency of the quantitative CBED method for bond-charge mapping. The standard deviation in the resulting distribution of derived X-ray structure f…

Jesper Friis、Bin Jiang、John C. H. Spence 等 4 位作者2003-09-16Microscopy and Microanalysis

Accurate low-order structure factors for copper metal have been measured by quantitative convergent beam electron diffraction (QCBED). The standard deviation of the measured structure factors is equal to or smaller than the most accurate measurement by any other method, including X-ray single crystal Pendellösung, Bra…

Poly(etherimide)/montmorillonite nanocomposites prepared by melt intercalation

Zhu‐Mei Liang、Jie Yin2003-09-16Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract A novel aromatic amine organo‐modifier synthesized in our previous work was used to treat montmorillonite (MMT) and the organo‐modified MMT was used to prepare poly(etherimide) (PEI)/MMT nanocomposites by a melt intercalation method. MMT treated by this amine exhibited large layer‐to‐layer spacing and a high…

Persistent random walk in a honeycomb structure: Light transport in foams

MirFaez Miri、Holger Stark2003-09-16Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics

We study light transport in a honeycomb structure as the simplest two-dimensional model foam. We apply geometrical optics to set up a persistent random walk for the photons. For three special injection angles of 30 degrees, 60 degrees, and 90 degrees relative to a hexagon's edge, we are able to demonstrate by analytic…
