Electronic structure of GaAs1-xNx alloy by soft-X-ray absorption and emission: Origin of the reduced optical efficiency

V. N. Strocov、P. O. Nilsson、A. Augustsson 等 9 位作者2002-07-31arXiv

The local electronic structure of N atoms in a diluted GaAs1-xNx (x=3%) alloy, in view of applications in optoelectronics, is determined for the first time using soft-X-ray absorption (SXA) and emission (SXE). Deviations from crystalline GaN, in particular in the conduction band, are dramatic. Employing the orbital ch…

Effect of Contact Interfaces on Quantum Conductance of Armchair Nanotubes

S. Krompiewski2002-07-31arXiv

Effect of contact interfaces, between metallic single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) and external electrodes made also of nanotubes, on the electrical conductance is studied. A tight-binding model with both diagonal and off-diagonal disorder, a recursive Green function technique as well as the Landauer formalism are us…

Transport anisotropy in biaxially strained La(2/3)Ca(1/3)MnO(3) thin films

J. Klein、J. B. Philipp、G. Carbone 等 6 位作者2002-07-31arXiv

Due to the complex interplay of magnetic, structural, electronic, and orbital degrees of freedom, biaxial strain is known to play an essential role in the doped manganites. For coherently strained La(2/3)Ca(1/3)MnO(3) thin films grown on SrTiO(3) substrates, we measured the magnetotransport properties both parallel an…

High-performance planar light-emitting diode

Marco Cecchini、Vincenzo Piazza、Fabio Beltram 等 8 位作者2002-07-31arXiv

Planar light-emitting diodes (LEDs) fabricated within a single high-mobility quantum well are demonstrated. Our approach leads to a dramatic reduction of radiative lifetime and junction area with respect to conventional vertical LEDs, promising very high-frequency device operation. Devices were fabricated by UV lithog…

Reduction factors for the icosahedral T_1u x h_g Jahn-Teller system

Q. C. Qiu、J. L. Dunn、C. A. Bates 等 5 位作者2002-07-31arXiv

Reduction factors (RF), that are needed when modeling vibronic systems by an effective Hamiltonian in an electronic basis, are calculated for the T_1u x h_g Jahn-Teller (JT) system. The results obtained will be useful when modeling the fullerene anion C_60-, which is believed to exhibit a T_1u x h_g JT effect in its g…

Size-Dependent Tunneling and Optical Spectroscopy of CdSe Quantum Rods

David Katz、Tommer Wizansky、Oded Millo 等 6 位作者2002-07-31Physical Review Letters

Photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy and scanning-tunneling spectroscopy are used to study the electronic states in CdSe quantum rods that manifest a transition from a zero-dimensional to a one-dimensional quantum-confined structure. Both optical and tunneling spectra show that the level structure depends primari…

Carbon Nanotube Transistor Arrays for Multistage Complementary Logic and Ring Oscillators

Ali Javey、Qian Wang、Ant Ural 等 5 位作者2002-07-31OpenAlex

This work demonstrates multistage complementary NOR, OR, NAND, and AND logic gates and ring oscillators (frequency ∼220 Hz) with arrays of p- and n-type nanotube field effect transistors (FETs). The demonstration is made possible by progress in three aspects of nanotube synthesis and integration. First, patterned grow…

Molecular Electronics with Carbon Nanotubes

Phaedon Avouris2002-07-31OpenAlex

Carbon nanotubes have unique properties that make them a most promising system on which to base molecular electronics. We briefly review the electrical characteristics of carbon nanotubes, and then focus on carbon nanotube field-effect transistors (CNTFETs). Procedures by which hole-transport, electron-transport and a…

In this work, X-ray studies of the amorphous oxide films obtained by thermal evaporation of WO(3) powder in a vacuum and by anodic oxidation were carried out. X-ray diffraction patterns were obtained in the symmetric reflection geometry on a DRON-4 diffractometer (Mo K(alpha) radiation, LiF monochromator) in automatic…
