Yoko Matsuzawa、Shin-ichiro Tamura、Nobuyuki Matsuzawa 等 4 位作者1994-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Faraday Transactions

The stability to light of 1,3,3,1′,3′,3′-hexamethyl-2,2′-indotricarbocyanine iodide (HITC) included in β-cyclodextrin (β-CyDx) has been examined. The quantum yield of the photodegradation of HITC was found to decrease with increasing formation of the inclusion complex, showing that the photostability of the dye can be…

Polar-nonpolar phase transition in rare-earth manganese oxides REMn2O5

Kay Kohn1994-01-01Ferroelectrics

Rare-earth manganese(III, IV) oxides REMn2O5 show a series of phase transitions at lower temperatures. There is a possibility that both electric and magnetic ordering coexist in a low-temperature phase. The recent dielectric, magnetic and magnetoelectric studies of these oxides are reviewed in this Paper.

Abstract The effect of tetraalkylammonium ions on the destabilization of foam has been studied by measuring the half‐life of foam (τ 1/2 ), area/molecule at the air/water interface, surface viscosity and critical micelle concentration (CMC) of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The area/molecule of SDS in organic salt solu…

Clodoaldo Machado、Maria de Graça Nascimento、Marcos Caroli Rezende1994-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Perkin Transactions 2

The solvato- and halo-chromic behaviour of the phenolate dyes 4–6 is described and compared with their analogues 1 and 3. The observed trends are discussed and rationalized in terms of semiempirical molecular orbital calculations.

Surface-pattern evolution in a swelling gel under a geometrical constraint: Direct observation of fold structure and its coarsening dynamics

Hajime Tanaka、Tomoo Sigehuzi1994-01-01Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics

We demonstrate here the direct observation of the side view of surface folds in a swelling gel, which are induced by elastic instability. The fold structure along the thickness direction has been clarified, which is a prerequisite for understanding its singular nature. The elementary coarsening process of the fold pat…

Magnetic properties and crystal structure of the p-fluorophenyl nitronyl nitroxide radical crystal: ferromagnetic intermolecular interactions leading to a three-dimensional network of ground triplet dimeric molecules

Yuko Hosokoshi、Masafumi Tamura、Minoru Kinoshita 等 7 位作者1994-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

The crystal of p-fluorophenyl nitronyl nitroxide [2-(4-fluorophenyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-1-oxyl 3-oxide, abbreviated as p-FPNN] radical has been found to possess a dimeric structure. Each dimer is related to adjacent ones by four-fold screw symmetry to form a three-dimensional network. The temp…

Mohamed Waqif、M. Haj Lakhdar、O. Saur 等 4 位作者1994-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Faraday Transactions

CuO/Al2O3 catalysts have been sulfated by oxidation of various amounts of SO2. The surface properties of the samples were studied using probe molecules. The IR spectra of CO species adsorbed on the non-sulfated sample show an strong band at 2125 cm–1 with a shoulder at 2160 cm–1, which shift to 2165 and 2180 cm–1, res…

A. Fischer、Hans Richter1994-01-01Journal of Applied Physics

A two-dimensional analysis of the in-plane misfit stress and its elastic relaxation in rectangular patterned heteroepitaxial SiGe/Si multilayer structures on Si substrate is presented. Based on the model of relaxing film stress the distribution of the misfit stress versus distance from the free surface of a multilayer…

Abstract 2‐(4′‐Hydroxyphenylbenzoyl)benzoic acid is readily available from phenolphthalein by reaction with hydroxylamine. On treatment with hydrazine, 4‐(4‐hydroxyphenyl)phthalazin‐1‐one is formed in high yield. Under conditions conventionally used for the synthesis of poly(aryl ether)s the phthalazinone reacts with…

Local minimisers of a three-phase partition problem with triple junctions

Peter Sternberg、William P. Zeimer1994-01-01Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh Section A Mathematics

We establish the existence of isolated local minimisers to the problem of partitioning certain two-dimensional domains into three subdomains having least interfacial area. The solution we exhibit has the special property that the three boundaries of the minimising partition meet at a common point or “triple junction”.…
