Calcium‐Magnesium Exchange on Illite in the Presence of Adsorbed Sodium

Garrison Sposito、Christine Levesque、Dean Hesterberg1986-07-01Soil Science Society of America Journal

Abstract Binary and ternary cation exchange experiments were performed with Na + , Ca 2+ , and Mg 2+ on Silver Hill illite and on a soil illite suspended in 50 mol m −3 perchlorate at pH 7. The binary experiments indicated no preference for Ca over Mg on the specimen illite, but selectivity for bivalent cations over N…

Vacancy deposition during diffusion-induced grain boundary migration

Re-Jehn Jahn、Alexander H. King1986-07-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

Stacking-fault tetrahedra have been observed in copper alloyed with zinc by diffusion-induced grain boundary migration. This implies that vacancies are deposited in the material by moving grain boundaries when diffusive fluxes along the boundary plane are associated with the boundary migration.

Purification and characterization of three proteins from a halophilic sulfate-reducing bacterium,Desulfovibrio salexigens

M. Czechowski、Guy Fauque、N. Galliano 等 10 位作者1986-07-01Journal of Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology

Hydrogenase, desulfoviridin and molybdenum proteins have been isolated from a halophilic sulfate-reducing bacteria,Desulfovibrio salexigens strain British Guiana. At least 50% of the hydrogenase was found to be located in the periplasm. The hydrogenase has a typical absorption spectrum, a 400/280 nm ratio of 0.28, a m…

Development of nondestructive technique for measuring carburization thickness and of A new carburization‐resistant alloy

T. Shinohara、I. Kohchi、Kazuyuki Shibata 等 5 位作者1986-07-01Materials and Corrosion

Abstract Nondestructive measurement of carburization of cracking tube and selecting carburization‐resistant alloys have been of much importance in design and maintenance of such equipment as ethylene cracking heater. In this paper, the authors firstly describe the newly developed manner of measuring carburization and…

Silicone oil as replacement fluid for PCBs in transformers

J.‐P. Crine1986-07-01Canadian Electrical Engineering Journal

A brief critical review of the electrical, thermal and flammability properties of silicone oil for transformers is presented in comparison to the same properties for polychlorinated biphenyl fluids (PCB) and mineral oil. It is deduced that silicone oil is an acceptable substitute for PCBs. Despite a significantly lowe…

Effect of Ammonium Gas on Electrical Property of Conducting Polymers

Katsumi Yoshino、Hal Bon Gu1986-07-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

Contrary to polyacetylene and polythiophene, the electrical conductivities of poly(p-phenylene) and poly(p-phenylenevinylene) can be increased remarkably by ammonium doping. This can be explained in terms of n-type doping. Diethylamine and triethylamine have also been found to be effective concerning these conducting…

David C. Crowe、Desmond Tromans1986-07-01CORROSION

The high-temperature behavior of the Ag-Ag2S electrode has been investigated in aqueous solutions of NaOH + Na2S, the compositions of which were of particular relevance to the kraft pulping process. Potentials were measured with respect to an external reference electrode and corrected for liquid junction potential (LJ…

Electrocaloric effect in PLZT ceramics

E. Birks、L. A. Shebanov、A. Sternberg1986-07-01Ferroelectrics

The electrocaloric effect in rhombohedral PLZT ceramics is studied as function of applied field and temperature. The results obtained are consistent with the general idea of the existence of an intermediate state of mixed polar and nonpolar regions in the interval of the diffuse phase transition. The step-like change…
