Effects of Temperature and Salinity on the Growth of the Giant Diatom Coscinodiscus wailesii Isolated from Harima-Nada, Seto Inland Sea, Japan.

Tetsuya Nishikawa、Kazutaka Miyahara、Satoshi Nagai2000-01-01NIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI

Euan K. Brechin、A. Graham、Andrew Parkin 等 6 位作者2000-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Dalton Transactions

The structures of three heptanuclear cobalt cages supported by carboxylates and 6-chloro-2-pyridonate (chp) have been determined. The metal cores can be derived from a square-based pyramid, capped on one edge of the square base and on the neighbouring triangular face of the pyramid. Use of phthalate in a similar react…

A model for type II collagen fibrils: Distinctive D-band patterns in native and reconstituted fibrils compared with sequence data for helix and telopeptide domains

Fulvia Ortolani、Max Giordano、Maurizio Marchini2000-01-01Biopolymers

The periodical D-band pattern is generally considered a unique ultrastructural feature shared by all fibril-forming collagens, which correlates with the intrafibril, paracrystalline array of tropocollagen monomers. Distinct band patterns have been reported, however, for collagen stained long-spacing (SLS) crystallites…

Controlling the energy-transfer direction: an oligophenylenevinylene–phenanthroline dyad acting as a proton triggered molecular switch

Nicola Armaroli、Jean‐François Eckert、Jean‐François Nierengarten2000-01-01Chemical Communications

In a two-component system combining an oligophenylenevinylene (OPV) group with a protonable phenanthroline unit, the direction of intercomponent photoinduced energy transfer can be tuned by proton input, thus allowing on/off switching of the luminescence of the OPV moiety.

Tensile behavior of irradiated recycled polyolefin plastics

Joo Carlos Miguez Suarez、Eloisa B. Mano、Maria Inês Bruno Tavares2000-01-01Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Solid wastes represent a potential source for raw materials in the world. In Brazil, municipal solid waste (MSW; 2–%) is expected to grow at a rate per year higher than the worldwide rate (1%). On the other hand, the consumption of polymer blends increases at a rate more than twice that of all plastics. Therefore, the…

Polyenes vs polyynes: Efficient π-frame for nonlinear optical pathways

Jin Yong Lee、Seung Bum Suh、Kwang S. Kim2000-01-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

The electronic and vibrational hyperpolarizabilities of polyenes NH2–(HC=CH)n–NO2 and polyynes NH2–(C≡C)n–NO2 have been investigated. As the chain length increases, the first hyperpolarizabilities increase drastically for polyenes, while they increase moderately for polyynes. Furthermore, in polyenes the vibrational f…
