The highest yield (14.4 g/kg) of naringin, the major flavonoid from the peel of Citrus paradisi L., that could be achieved by supercritical fluid extraction was obtained using supercritical carbon dioxide modified with 15% ethanol and fresh (rather than dried) peels at 95 bar and 58.6 degrees C. This yield is higher t…

Infrared Spectra of Aluminum Hydrides in Solid Hydrogen: Al2H4 and Al2H6

Xuefeng Wang、Lester Andrews、Simon Tam 等 5 位作者2003-07-01Journal of the American Chemical Society

The reaction of laser-ablated Al atoms and normal-H(2) during co-deposition at 3.5 K produces AlH, AlH(2), and AlH(3) based on infrared spectra and the results of isotopic substitution (D(2), H(2) + D(2) mixtures, HD). Four new bands are assigned to Al(2)H(4) from annealing, photochemistry, and agreement with frequenc…

Chemical vapor deposition-formed p-type ZnO thin films

X. Li、Yongda Yan、T. A. Gessert 等 8 位作者2003-07-01Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A Vacuum Surfaces and Films

We have fabricated nitrogen-doped zinc oxide (ZnO) films that demonstrate p-type behavior by using metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. In our experiment, diethylzinc is used as a Zn precursor, and NO gas is used to supply both O and N to form a N-doped ZnO (ZnO:N) film. With these precursors, we have routinely rea…

Tellurite glasses with peak absolute Raman gain coefficients up to 30 times that of fused silica

Robert Stegeman、Ladislav Jankovic、Hongki Kim 等 10 位作者2003-07-01Optics Letters

An experimental system has been assembled to measure the absolute values of the Raman gain spectrum for millimeter-thick glass samples. Results are reported for two new oxide glasses with Raman gain coefficients as much as 30 times larger than that of fused silica and more than twice its spectral coverage.

The Mode III Crack Problem in Microstructured Solids Governed by Dipolar Gradient Elasticity: Static and Dynamic Analysis

H.G. Georgiadis2003-07-01Journal of Applied Mechanics

This study aims at determining the elastic stress and displacement fields around a crack in a microstructured body under a remotely applied loading of the antiplane shear (mode III) type. The material microstructure is modeled through the Mindlin-Green-Rivlin dipolar gradient theory (or strain-gradient theory of grade…

Metapelite phase equilibria modeling in MnNCKFMASH: The effect of variable Al2O3 and MgO/(MgO + FeO) on mineral stability

Douglas K. Tinkham、Carlos A. Zuluaga、Harold H. Stowell2003-07-01American Mineralogist

A series of MnO-Na2O-CaO-K2O-FeO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2-H2O (MnNCKFMASH) metapelite pseudosections highlights the dependence of predicted mineral assemblages on bulk rock Al2O3 and Mg# [MgO/(MgO + FeO)]. T-XAl pseudosections portray the dependence of staurolite, biotite, and aluminum silicate on Al2O3 content, allowing the di…

Bonding preferences of non-bridging O atoms: Evidence from 17 O MAS and 3QMAS NMR on calcium aluminate and low-silica Ca-aluminosilicate glasses

Jeffrey R. Allwardt、Sung Keun Lee、Jonathan F. Stebbins2003-07-01American Mineralogist

The fraction of O atoms as non-bridging O atoms (NBO) can be well approximated based on composition alone in many silicate glasses, but the NBO preference for specific network forming cations is much less well known. Using oxygen-17 ( 17 O) NMR on low-silica calcium aluminosilicate (CAS) glasses, this study shows that…

Electron emission theory and its application: Fowler–Nordheim equation and beyond

Kevin L. Jensen2003-07-01Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing Measurement and Phenomena

In this article, we examine the Fowler–Nordheim (FN) equation for field emission using pedagogical models to introduce and illuminate its origins, limitations, extensions, and application to multidimensional structures. The analyses of modern electron sources generally invoke either the FN equation or the Richardson–L…

Veska Toncheva、E. Schacht、S.Y. Ng 等 5 位作者2003-07-01Journal of drug targeting

Amphiphilic AB and ABA block copolymers have been prepared from poly (ortho esters) and poly (ethylene glycol). Such block copolymers readily form micellar dispersions in water, or buffers. The CMC is in the range of 3 x 10(-4)-5 x 10(-4) g/l which is a value low enough to assure retention of micelle integrity upon in…

Casey E. Ravenhurst、Mary K. Roden‐Tice、Donald S. Miller2003-07-01Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences

It is well known that the optically measured lengths of fission tracks in apatite crystals are a function of etching conditions, crystallographic orientation of the track, composition of the crystal, and the state of thermal annealing. In this study we standardize etching conditions and optimize track length measurabi…

Shape Amphiphiles: Mixing Rods and Disks in Liquid Crystals

Richard W. Date、Duncan W. Bruce2003-07-01Journal of the American Chemical Society

Mixtures of rodlike and disklike liquid crystals suffer from phase separation. However, such mixtures can be homogenized if a molecule is added which comprises a rod- and a disklike fragment linked together covalently. We have termed such a molecule a shape amphiphile and believe that this represents a new class of am…
