Griffiths-like behavior in Ge-rich magnetocaloric compounds Gd5(SixGe1−x)4

Zijun Ouyang2010-08-01Journal of Applied Physics

The unusual low field magnetic behavior is revealed in the dc and ac magnetic susceptibility measurements of Gd5(SixGe1−x)4 (x<∼0.5). These anomalies can be ascribed to the presence of short range ferromagnetic correlations and ferromagnetic clustering in both antiferromagnetic and paramagnetic states. As a res…

THE ROLE OF BACTERIALLY MEDIATED PRECIPITATION IN THE PERMINERALIZATION OF BONE

Joseph C. Daniel、Karen Chin2010-08-01Palaios

Abstract Bone fossilization is generally thought to be predominantly slow and geochemically controlled, whereas soft-tissue preservation is rapid and microbially enhanced. Microbial destruction of bone has been well researched, but potential preservational influences of microbes on bone are relatively unstudied. Build…

One dimensional (1-D) and three dimensional (3-D) ZnO were growth by a hydrothermal method. ZnO 1-D was employed as a support for silver nanoparticles in order to design a new catalyst and used on the steam reforming of methanol (SRM) reaction for H2 production. The catalytic activity of the Ag/ZnO sample with low con…

T. S. Livshits、A. A. Lizin、J. M. Zhang 等 4 位作者2010-08-01Geology of Ore Deposits

The stability of synthetic REE-aluminate garnets irradiated by accelerated Kr2+ ions and affected by alpha decay of 244Cm (T1/2 = 18.1 yr) has been studied. The dose of irradiation sufficient for the complete disordering of the aluminate garnet structure is 0.40–0.55 displacements per atom. This value increases with r…

Atomic carbon chains as spin-transmitters: An ab initio transport study

J. A. Fürst、Mads Brandbyge、Antti‐Pekka Jauho2010-08-01Europhysics Letters (EPL)

An atomic carbon chain joining two graphene flakes was recently realized in a ground-breaking experiment by Jin et al. ( Phys. Rev. Lett. , 102 (2009) 205501). We present ab initio results for the electron transport properties of such chains and demonstrate complete spin-polarization of the transmission in large energ…

One-pot synthesis of meso-alkyl substituted isocorroles: the reaction of a triarylcorrole with Grignard reagent

Sara Nardis、Giuseppe Pomarico、Federica Mandoj 等 6 位作者2010-08-01Journal of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines

The reaction of 5,10,15-tritolylcorrole with EtMgBr opens the way for novel functionalizations of the corrole ring. DDQ oxidation of the macrocycle, followed by addition of the Grignard reagent, led to the formation of 5- and 10-alkyl substituted isocorroles in satisfying yields. Together with the one-pot formation of…
