at the TB to nematic transition is accurately described by a coarse-grained free energy density, which is based on a Landau-deGennes expansion in terms of a heli-polar order parameter that characterizes the TB state and is linearly coupled to bend distortion of the director.

Columnar shifts as symmetry-breaking degrees of freedom in molecular perovskites

Hanna L. B. Boström、Joshua A. Hill、Andrew L. Goodwin2016-01-01Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics

(X = molecular anion). Like the well-known octahedral tilts of conventional perovskites, shifts also preserve the octahedral coordination geometry of the B-site cation in molecular perovskites, and so are predisposed to influencing the low-energy dynamics and displacive phase transitions of these topical systems. We p…

Enhanced thermoelectric properties of the Dirac semimetal Cd 3 As 2

Tong Zhou、Cheng Zhang、Huisheng Zhang 等 5 位作者2016-01-01Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers

The thermoelectric behavior of the Dirac semimetal Cd 3 As 2 can be much improved by electron or hole doping, especially the latter. The optimum ZT is found to be about 0.5, much larger than that (0.15) obtained in pristine Cd 3 As 2 in experiments.

Prediction of the band structures of Bi2Te3-related binary and Sb/Se-doped ternary thermoelectric materials

Byungki Ryu、Bong-Seo Kim、Ji Eun Lee 等 8 位作者2016-01-01Journal of the Korean Physical Society

Density functional calculations are performed to study the band structures of Bi2Te3-related binary (Bi2Te3, Sb2Te3, Bi2Se3, and Sb2Se3) and Sb/Se-doped ternary compounds [(Bi1−x Sb x )2Te3 and Bi2(Te1−y Se y )3]. The band gap was found to be increased by Sb doping and to be monotonically increased by Se doping. In te…

Oxidation-assisted graphene heteroepitaxy on copper foil

Nicolas Reckinger、Xiaohui Tang、Frédéric Joucken 等 9 位作者2016-01-01Nanoscale

We propose an innovative, easy-to-implement approach to synthesize aligned large-area single-crystalline graphene flakes by chemical vapor deposition on copper foil. This method doubly takes advantage of residual oxygen present in the gas phase. First, by slightly oxidizing the copper surface, we induce grain boundary…

Self-organized growth of graphene nanomesh with increased gas sensitivity

Matthias König、Günther Ruhl、Joerg-Martin Batke 等 4 位作者2016-01-01Nanoscale

A bottom-up chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process for the growth of graphene nanomesh films is demonstrated. The process relies on silicon nanospheres to block nucleation sites for graphene CVD on copper substrates. These spheres are formed in a self-organized way through silicon diffusion through a 5 μm copper laye…
