Effect of drawing on the α relaxation of poly(vinyl alcohol)

Paul D. Garrett、David T. Grubb1988-11-01Journal of Polymer Science Part B Polymer Physics

Abstract The α relaxation of isotropic and drawn poly(vinyl alcohol) dried gel films was studied using dynamic mechanical analysis. The temperature of the relaxation T α increased from 160°C in the isotropic gel to 220°C in a fiber drawn 19 ×. The relaxation, which is associated with the crystalline regions of the mat…

Donor‐acceptor‐substituierte cyclische π‐Elektronensysteme ‐ Prüfsteine für Theorien und Bausteine für neue Materialien

R. Gompper、Hans‐Ulrich Wagner1988-11-01Angewandte Chemie

1988-11-01Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English

Hexagonal colloidal copper particles with a narrow size distribution are formed in the reduction of an acetonitrile solution of Cu(OAc) 2 ·H 2 O with hydrazine hydrate in the presence of poly(vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone). The deep‐red sols, which were characterized by electron microscopy, are extremely stable in an inert gas…

Influence of Various Consolidation Techniques on the Green Microstructure and Sintering Behavior of Alumina Powders

Andreas Roosen、H. Kent Bowen1988-11-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Submicrometer alumina powders, of both standard and narrow particle‐size distributions, were consolidated by dry‐pressing and colloidal‐forming techniques. The resulting green compacts were characterized in terms of pore‐size distribution, green density, shrinkage behavior, and sintered density. The interrelationships…

On the wind force needed to dislodge a drop adhered to a surface

Paul A. Durbin1988-11-01Journal of Fluid Mechanics

The dislodging by dynamic pressure forces of a drop adhered by surface tension to a plane is analysed. An integro-differential equation describing the drop shape is solved numerically and the critical Weber number as a function of contact angle hysteresis is found.
