Recent advances in joining technology of ceramics to metals.

Katsuaki Suganuma1990-01-01ISIJ International

Joining technologies of ceramics to metals have been advanced in recent few years. There have a lot of difficult problems to be overcome in developing joining techniques. To control the chemistry of interfaces is, of course, one of the big key points. The active metal brazing has been established for solving this prob…

Stress corrosion cracking: 1965–1990

Roger Newman、Rob Procter1990-01-01British Corrosion Journal

Advances in the theory and practice of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) are reviewed for the period 1965–1990. The proceedings of two landmark conferences are used as a basis for discussion: Ohio State University (1967) and Kohler, WI (1988). The discussion is developed around the following topics: metal–environment co…

Electrical transport properties of molybdenum tellurite glassy semiconductors

A. Ghosh1990-01-01Philosophical Magazine B

The first measurements are reported of the electrical conductivity of semiconducting molybdenum tellurite glasses of various compositions over the temperature range 100-500 K. The electrical data have been analysed in the light of polaronic conduction models. The analysis shows that the adiabatic hopping theory is mos…

Experience from insulators with RTV silicon rubber sheds and shed coatings

A.E. Vlastós、El‐Sayed M. Sherif1990-01-01IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery

Long-rod composite insulators, having weather sheds made of room-temperature vulcanizing silicon rubber compounds (RTV) were exposed for many years to HVAC (high-voltage AC) and HVDC (high-voltage DC) under realistic conditions and natural pollution. It was found that the shed material, contrary to the experience gain…

Apatite genesis: A biologically induced or biologically controlled mineral formation process?

Agnès Hirschler、Jacques Lucas、Jean‐Claude Hubert1990-01-01Geomicrobiology Journal

Apatite formation from organic matter (ribonucleic acid) and calcium carbonate (cuttlebone) requires intervention of microorganisms. We have attempted to characterize this mineral formation process by locating the alkaline phosphatase and the crystals formed. Alkaline phosphatase, which is important for the liberation…

Formation of Organoammonium-Montmorillonites by Solid-Solid Reactions

Makoto Ogawa、Tokuhiko Handa、Kazuyuki Kuroda 等 4 位作者1990-01-01Chemistry Letters

Abstract Organoammonium-montmorillonites were formed from dehydrated sodium montmorillonite and organoammonium halides by solid-solid reactions. The formation depended on the sizes and counter anions of the ammonium ions used. The behavior was different from that observed in a conventional solution method.

Microwave absorption in Sc- and CoTi-substituted Ba hexaferrite powders

I. Nedkov、A. Petkov、В. Г. Карпов1990-01-01IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

Investigations of hexagonal ferrites as a gyromagnetic medium allow the analysis of phenomena related to ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) in ferrites with high internal anisotropy. In the present work, (Sc)- and (CoTi)-substituted M-type hexaferrite powders are examined on the basis of the general formula BaM/sub x/Fe/su…

Properties of mixtures of silk fibroin/syndiotactic‐rich poly(vinyl alcohol)

Kazuo Yamaura、N. Kuranuki、Miyako Suzuki 等 5 位作者1990-01-01Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract The gelation of mixed solutions of silk fibroin (SF)/syndiotactic‐rich poly(vinyl alcohol) ( s ‐PVA), the thermal analysis of dry‐gels, and the various properties of blend films were investigated. The rate of gelation of a mixed solution was lower than that of each SF or s ‐PVA solution of the same concentrat…

Upgraded Nd-Fe-B-AD (AD=Al,Ga) magnets: wettability and microstructure

K.G. Knoch、B. Grieb、E.-Th. Henig 等 5 位作者1990-01-01IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

An enhanced coercivity of sintered Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets by Al or Ga additions that is associated with a change in microstructure has been demonstrated. These microstructural modifications were detected by energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX)-assisted transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Two new ternary phase…

Weak charge-transfer polyoxoanion salts: the reaction of quinolin-8-ol (Hquin) with phosphotungstic acid and the crystal and molecular structure of [H 2 quin] 3 [PW 12 O 40 ]·4EtOH·2H 2 O

Donato Attanasio、M. Bonamico、Vincenzo Fares 等 5 位作者1990-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Dalton Transactions

Different solvated charge-transfer salts between quinolin-8-ol (Hquin) and phosphotungstic acid have been synthesized and characterized. Spectroscopic data support the presence of a sizeable electronic interaction between electron-rich aromatic organics and the inorganic acid, both in the solid state and in solution,…
