A note on an alternative form of the lactation model of Wood

M.S. Dhanoa1981-06-01Animal Science

ABSTRACT An alternative form, y = An mc e −cn , of the lactation model of Wood, y = An b e −cn , is suggested. The new parameter, m, is the time required to achieve maximum milk yield. The correlations between non-linear parameters are reduced.

Brittle fracture in glassy polymers

Masaru Ishikawa、Hiroyuki Ogawa、Ikuo Narisawa1981-06-01Journal of Macromolecular Science Part B

The brittle fracture behavior of round-notched poly(methyl methacrylate), poly(vinyl chloride), and polystyrene bars has been studied at varying temperatures and bending rates. Brittle fracture originating from internal crazes occurs in a restricted range of temperature. When the plastic deformation zone at the tip of…

High-resolution x-ray measurements of the smectic phases of terephthal-bis-(4n)-alkylanilines

Satyendra Kumar1981-06-01Physical Review A

High-resolution x-ray measurements (error \ensuremath{\sim}200-400 ppm) of smectic layer spacing $d$ of six homologs (TB3A-TB8A) of terephthal-bis-($4n$)-butylaniline (TBBA) have been made as a function of temperature. In the smectic-$C$ phase, the exponent of the tilt angle for TB3A and TBBA has a value close to $\fr…

Instabilities in current-mode controlled switching voltage regulators

R. Redl、István Novák1981-06-01OpenAlex

A survey of the instabilities of switching voltage regulators with different types of current-mode controllers (including LC3or constant-hysteresis; MC2or constant-frequency and constant off-time versions) is presented. Apart from the well-known open-loop oscillation of the constant frequency regulator above 50% duty…

Occurrence of Reentrant Nematic and Reentrant Smectic A Phases in Mesogenic Series

G. Sigaud、Nguyễn Hữu Tình、F. Hardouin 等 4 位作者1981-06-01Molecular crystals and liquid crystals

A systematic comparative study of several series of chemically neighbouring compounds apt to give a reentrant mesomorphism is proposed. Experimental data concerning the various reentrant phases are summed up. From these observations various factors favourable to the occurence of the reentrance are revealed. Thus, the…

Comparative mass measurement of biological macromolecules by scanning transmission electron microscopy

Richard B. Freeman、Kevin Leonard1981-06-01Journal of Microscopy

A method is described for measuring the mass/length or mass of molecular assemblies by comparative electron scattering in the STEM. Standard particles whose mass is well established (e.g. TMV or fd bacteriophage) are deposited on the electron microscope grid together with the sample to be measured. Images containing a…
