Coercivity after heat treatment of overquenched and optimally quenched Nd-Fe-B

J. Wecker、L. Schultz1987-08-01Journal of Applied Physics

Rapidly quenched Nd-Fe-B magnets show a pronounced composition dependence of the intrinsic coercivity HcI which increases with increasing Nd content to values of 23.5 kOe. The magnetic hardening is ascribed to a Nd-rich phase located at the phase boundaries of the Nd2Fe14B grains. Samples prepared by crystallization o…

Multivesicular liposomes containing 1-beta-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine for slow-release intrathecal therapy.

Sinil Kim、Jae‐Hong Kim、Mark A. Geyer 等 4 位作者1987-08-01PubMed

Optimal anticancer treatment with cell cycle-specific antimetabolites requires maintenance of a cytotoxic drug level for a prolonged period of time. We explored the use of multivesicular liposomes as a slow-release depot of 1-beta-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine for intrathecal administration. The intrathecal half-life of…

Synthesis, Physical Properties and Structural Relationships of New, End-Chain Substituted Nematic Liquid Crystals

Richard Buchecker、Martin Schadt1987-08-01Molecular crystals and liquid crystals

New nematic liquid crystalline phenylcyclohexanes with (i) a terminal side-chain vinylic group some distance from the rigid core and (ii) both polar and non-polar terminal side-chain groups, were synthesized. Investigations of their elastic, birefringence, dielectric and rotational viscous properties have shown severa…

Effects of electron irradiation and annealing on ferroelectric vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene copolymers

B. Daudin、M. Dubus、J. Legrand1987-08-01Journal of Applied Physics

It is shown that the Curie point of the ferroelectric vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene copolymer can be shifted to the low temperatures by electron radiation. This effect was studied by in situ dielectric measurements as a function of the dose and of the irradiation temperature. An additional effect of the irradi…

Gas transport in a thermotropic liquid‐crystalline polyester

J. S. Chiou、D.R. Paul1987-08-01Journal of Polymer Science Part B Polymer Physics

Abstract A preliminary report is given on the gas transport characteristics of a thermotropic liquid‐crys talline copolyester that is fully aromatic. At 35°C the permeability coefficients for He, H 2 , O 2 , Ar, N 2 , and CO 2 in this polymer are comparable to or smaller than those for polyacrylonitrile, which is one…

Abstract Cobalt(II) hydroxide–(sodium fluoride tetrasilicic mica) intercalation complexes were prepared by titrating cobalt(II) nitrate solutions in the presence of mica with sodium hydroxide under oxygen-free conditions. These complexes were characterized by chemical analysis, XRD, DTA-TGA, IR, and surface area measu…

Diffusion in random two-phase media

David Ronis1987-08-01Physical Review A

Continuum diffusion of a third species in a two-phase system comprised of stationary globules, randomly distributed in a uniform background medium, is considered. The diffusing species can dissolve in either phase, with different solubilities and diffusion constants. A density expansion of the average diffusion coeffi…

Optical transforms of disordered systems displaying diffuse intensity loci

T. R. Welberry、Ray L. Withers1987-08-01Journal of Applied Crystallography

A method is described of synthesizing a real-space distribution of scattering points which will give rise to virtually any required diffraction pattern. The distribution may be used in the form of an optical diffraction screen to give an immediate visual check on both the real-space and reciprocal-space distributions.…

NMR spectra of porphyrins. Part 31. Ring currents in hydroporphyrins

Raymond J. Abraham、Craig J. Medforth、Kevin M. Smith 等 5 位作者1987-08-01Journal of the American Chemical Society

The dipole-dipole network model of the porphyrin macrocyclic ring current is used to investigate the ring currents in reduced (hydro)porphyrins derived from phylloerythrin methyl ester. Reduction of ring D to afford the corresponding chlorin results in a decrease of the inner loop and pyrrole subunit ring currents by…

Pre-Breakdown Currents Due to Filamentary Thermal Breakdown in Polyimide Films

T. Mizutani、Ippei Kanno、Masayuki Hikita 等 5 位作者1987-08-01IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation

Pre-breakdown currents in polyimide (PI) films were measured under the application of dc ramp voltage (30 V/s) and the breakdown mechanism is discussed on the basis of the results. A steep current increase was observed from about 10-3 before the breakdown and was ascribed to a thermal runway which results in a filamen…

The soft mode concept and the history of ferroelectricity

R. Blinc1987-08-01Ferroelectrics

I. THE SOFT MODE CONCEPT: In the late fifties ferroelectric research underwent a serious transition. Until that time the theory of ferroelectricity has been either phenomenological or consisted of attempts to develop microscopic theories for specific atomic structures. In 1959 Cochran1 pointed out that at second order…
