Synthesis and Coordination Chemistry of a Photoswitchable Bis(phosphine) Ligand

David Sud、Robert McDonald、Neil R. Branda2005-07-22Inorganic Chemistry

A 1,2-dithienylethene compound bearing bis(phosphine) groups (1o) represents a new class of photoresponsive ligands where there are steric and electronic differences between two photogenerated isomers. The coordination chemistry of this ligand class is demonstrated by preparing a gold(I) complex (2o) and a phosphine s…

Arnold Desmartin Chomel、Philip Dempsey、Jérôme Latournerie 等 5 位作者2005-07-22Chemistry of Materials

Gel to glass transformation of methyltriethoxysilane was investigated using infrared and Raman spectroscopies. The vibrational frequencies of the Si−O network are found to be a sensitive probe of the gel to glass transformation, which is measured to be at ca. 950 °C for this system, under the experimental conditions u…

We report electric field-induced modulation of absorption in PbS nanocrystal quantum dots across the spectral region 600–2000nm, encompassing the entire telecommunications band. The maxima in the electroabsorption spectra correspond with the positions of the first excitonic peak, confirming the predominance of exciton…

Highly Improved Green Photoluminescence from CePO4:Tb/LaPO4 Core/Shell Nanowires

Yueping Fang、An‐Wu Xu、Wen‐Fei Dong2005-07-22Small

Purest green! CePO4:Tb/LaPO4 core/shell nanowires with enhanced green photoluminescence (PL) have been synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method (see the PL spectrum). The fact that lattice parameters of the LnPO4 family are similar and that their crystal structures are identical is utilized to ensure that defects i…

Ruey‐Chi Wang、Chuan‐Pu Liu、Jow-Lay Huang 等 4 位作者2005-07-22Applied Physics Letters

Diverse ZnO integrated nanostructures, constructed by epitaxial nanowalls and symmetric single-crystalline nanosheets, were successfully synthesized via a strain-assisted self-catalyzed process at a low temperature of 500°C. The nanostructures started with the growth of ZnO nanowires, nucleated on a rugged ZnO single-…

First-principles elastic stiffness of LaPO4 monazite

Jingyang Wang、Yanchun Zhou、Zhijun Lin2005-07-22Applied Physics Letters

In this letter, the full set of elastic coefficients of LaPO4 monazite is presented based on the first-principles plane-wave pseudopotential total energy method. Mechanical parameters (bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young’s moduli, and Poisson’s ratio) are also presented and compared with experimental results for polycr…

Time-Dependent Strength of Colloidal Gels

Suliana Manley、Benny Davidovitch、Neil R. Davies 等 18 位作者2005-07-22Physical Review Letters

Colloidal silica gels are shown to stiffen with time, as demonstrated by both dynamic light scattering and bulk rheological measurements. Their elastic moduli increase as a power law with time, independent of particle volume fraction; however, static light scattering indicates that there are no large-scale structural…

Electrochemical and optical characterization of p- and n-doped poly[2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene]

A. Holt、Janelle Leger、S. A. Carter2005-07-22The Journal of Chemical Physics

We study electrochemical p- and n-type doping in the well-known light-emitting polymer poly[2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] (MEH-PPV). Doping reactions are characterized using cyclic voltammetry. Optical measurements including photoluminescence and UV/Vis/NIR transmission were performed on doped s…

Yanming Ma、John S. Tse、Tian Cui 等 8 位作者2005-07-22Physical Review B

The electronic structure, lattice dynamics, and the electron-phonon coupling (EPC) in hole $(p)$-doped and electron $(n)$-doped diamonds have been extensively investigated using ab initio methods with the virtual crystal approximation. The calculations of $p$-doped diamond correctly reproduced all the essential proper…

Liquid-liquid phase transitions in supercooled water studied by computer simulations of various water models

Ivan Brovchenko、Alfons Geiger、Alla Oleinikova2005-07-22The Journal of Chemical Physics

Liquid-liquid and liquid-vapor coexistence regions of various water models were determined by Monte Carlo (MC) simulations of isotherms of density fluctuation-restricted systems and by Gibbs ensemble MC simulations. All studied water models show multiple liquid-liquid phase transitions in the supercooled region: we ob…
