Atomic Oxygen Treatment as a Method of Recovering Smoke-Damaged Paintings

Sharon K. Rutledge、Bruce A. Banks、Mark Forkapa 等 6 位作者2000-01-01Journal of the American Institute for Conservation

The noncontact technique that is described uses atomic oxygen, generated under low pressure in the presence of nitrogen, to remove soot and charred varnish from the surface of a painting. The process, which involves surface oxidation, permits control of the amount of surface material removed. The effectiveness of the…

Yuanzheng Yue、Christian Rüssel、G. Carl 等 5 位作者2000-01-01VBN Forskningsportal (Aalborg Universitet)

The structure of extruded Ca(PO 3 ) 2 glass was characterised by measuring optical birefringence, thermal expansion and two dimensional rotorsynchronised nuclear magnetic resonance spectra using magic angle sample spinning (2D MAS NMR). The results give evidence not only of a macroscopic structural anisotropy but also…

Glasses from the system AgI-Ag2O-TeO2.B2O3

E. Lefterova、P. Angelov、Y. Dimitriev2000-01-01Physics and chemistry of glasses

New glasses in the quaternary system AgI-Ag 2 O-TeO 2 .B 2 O 3 have been synthesised by rapid quenching from glass melts. The ratio between B 2 O 3 and TeO 2 was kept constant, B 2 O 3 :TeO 2 =1. Glasses were obtained with up to 50 mol% AgI. Above this value, β/γ-AgI crystallised in the amorphous matrix. It is seen fr…

Effect of Heat Treatment for the Gas Atomized Mn-Al-C alloy Powders on the Magnetic Properties of Extruded Magnets by Powder-Extrusion Process.

Yoshikazu Tanaka、Yoshikazu Aikawa2000-01-01Journal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy

Mn-Al-C magnet has been produced by powder-extrusion process since 1989. It is known that rapidly solidified powder improves the magnetic properties of magnet. In this work, the possibilities to improve magnetic properties for powder-extrude Mn-Al-C-alloy were studied by using heat treated gas atomized powders. The ef…

Change in the Structure of Heat-Treated Siloxane Oligomers as Observed by FT-IR.

Nozomu Takano、Tomio Fukuda、Katsumichi Ono2000-01-01KOBUNSHI RONBUNSHU

Digitized Database Quantification, DDBQ, Analysis of Complex Mixtures using Fully Digitized Patterns

Deane K. Smith、Gerald Johnson2000-01-01OpenAlex

Use of the fully digitized X-ray diffraction pattern for phase quantification has proven to be the most effective approach to achieving the theoretical accuracy potential of 1 % absolute. The digitized database quantification technique, DDBQ, was developed in the 1980s. Appropriate reference patterns are stored in sma…

The use of nonparametric statistics in quantitative electron microscopy

Randal E. Morris2000-01-01Journal of Electron Microscopy

Parametric statistical methods assume samples that have a normal distribution and representative sample sizes (i.e. n >20). Quantitative electron microscopy is inherently restricted to small sample sizes and a priori there is no way to know if the expression of the ligand being studied has a normal distribution. Thus…

Microstructure of oxide layers formed on Zircaloy-2 in air at 450°C

Yoshinori Ishii、J.M. Sykes2000-01-01Materials at High Temperatures

Oxidation tests were conducted at 450°C in air for Zircaloy-2 and modified alloys. The results showed breakaway oxidation, as has been reported previously. The microstructures of the oxide films were examined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Cross-sections were prepared from test samples with various thickne…

Change in backbone torsion angle distribution on protein folding

Andrei‐José Petrescu、P. Calmettes、D. Durand 等 5 位作者2000-01-01Protein Science

Understanding protein folding requires the determination of the configurational space accessible to the protein at different stages in folding. Here, computer simulation analysis of small angle neutron scattering results is used to probe the change in the distribution of configurations on strong denaturation of a glob…
