Reaction in Carbonatite/Modified Water Glass System

Qi Yin2002-01-01Journal of Building Materials

It's proved that a reaction exists in poor grade carbonatite and modified water glass system at ambient temperature. The reaction products are identified as hydrated calcium (magnesium) silicate by SEM, XRD and EDX and the reaction mechanism is discussed.

Inhibiting Effect of β-Cyclodextrin on Thymine Dimerization Photosensitized by para-Aminobenzoic Acid¶

Maria Nowakowska、Mirosław Grębosz、Mirosława Smoluch 等 4 位作者2002-01-01Photochemistry and Photobiology

Beta-cyclodextrin can act as an efficient inhibitor of the photosensitized dimerization of thymine by para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) in aqueous solution. This can be explained by considering the formation of an inclusion complex between PABA and beta-cyclodextrin.

NO Adsorption Characteristics of Agglomerated Zeolite Particles.

Boris Golman、Zengo Ohashi、Kunio Shinohara 等 6 位作者2002-01-01JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING OF JAPAN

The adsorption characteristics were investigated with differently sized agglomerates of zeolite particles for moving-bed applications. As a result, the saturation amount of NO gas adsorbed on the agglomerates was almost the same as that of the primary particles, and thus the negligible influence of binder was confirme…

Liquid Crystalline Properties and Photochromism of 4-Cyano- and 4-Nitro-N-(4-Alkoxysalicylidene) Anilines

Sakumitsu Sakagami、Toshiaki Koga、A. Takase2002-01-01Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals

Two new homologous series of 4-cyano- and 4-nitro-N-(4-alkoxysalicylidene) anilines were synthesized. The phase transitions of these homologues were determined by using a differential scanning calorimeter and an ordinary polarizing microscope. It is shown that all the homologues having a terminal cyano group exhibit a…

Effect of Small Amount of Bismuth on Corrosion Resistibility of Austenitic Stainless Steel Weld Metals

Yasuhiro Hara、Keisuke Shiga、Nobuo Nakazawa2002-01-01OpenAlex

Flux-cored are welding (FCAW) has increased recently because of high welding efficiency. However, a small amount of bismuth in the weld metals was a residue from the flux component that was added for improving slag detachability. The effect of small amount of bismuth in austenitic stainless steel weld metal on corrosi…

L.A. Kappers、O. R. Gilliam、Ralph H. Bartram 等 5 位作者2002-01-01Radiation effects and defects in solids

Electron spin resonance (ESR) studies show that electron irradiation of an f -TeO 2 single crystal followed by 330-nm UV illumination at ∼10 v K generates a new spin-1/2 paramagnetic center having C 2 symmetry, like the Te lattice sites, that is attributed to a self-trapped charge on a Te. Identification is facilitate…

Permanent Magnets

É. du Trémolet de Lacheisserie、Damien Gignoux、M. Schlenker2002-01-01Magnetism

The number of materials systems used to make magnets on an industrial scale is limited. They are, in chronological order of appearance, AlNiCo (late 1930s), hard ferrites (1950s), the family of Sm-Co magnets which gave rise to two different magnet groups, SmCo5 (late 1960s) and Sm(CoFeCuZr)7–8, often referred to as th…

PEA Measurement System for Direct Observation of Space Charge Distribution

Takashi Maéno2002-01-01IEEJ Transactions on Fundamentals and Materials

The pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) method has been used to measure space charge distributions in insulating materials. A high-resolution PEA measurement system and signal procedure have been reported in previous papers. Since the signal procedure is necessary for high-resolution measurement, the system must include a co…
