Yoichiro Kamimura、Satoshi Sato、Ryōji Takahashi 等 5 位作者2000-03-01Chemistry Letters

Abstract Formation of 3-pentanone via oxidative dimerization of l-propanol was investigated over CeO2-based solid solution with various metal oxides. An addition of Fe2O3 into CeO2 greatly enhanced the 3-pentanone formation, and both l-propanol conversion and 3-pentanone selectivity were maximized at Fe content of 20…

Room temperature structure of LaAlO3

H. Lehnert、H. Boysen、P. Dreier 等 4 位作者2000-03-01Zeitschrift für Kristallographie - Crystalline Materials

Owing to some recent confusion in the literature the room temperature structure of LaAlO 3 was redetermined by X-ray diffraction using a Guinier camera equipped with an image plate system. Different samples of pure LaAlO 3 as well as a sample doped with 0.2 percent by weight ThO 2 were used in the investigation. The s…

O. Lahodny‐Šarc、F. Kapor、R. Halle2000-03-01Materials and Corrosion

Inhibition efficiency of calcium gluconate, alone and in blends with sodium benzoate, on the corrosion of carbon steel in chloride solutions has been assessed by potentiodynamic polarization measurements and mass loss detection in the temperature range from 25 to 70 °C. Sodium benzoate efficient in hindering the gener…

Mid- and Near-Infrared Investigation of Molecular Orientation in Elastomeric Networks

Liliane Bokobza、Thierry Buffeteau、Bernard Desbat2000-03-01Applied Spectroscopy

Segmental orientation in uniaxially stretched poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) elastomeric networks is investigated by Fourier transform infrared dichroism. Precise determination of the dichroic effects, in the mid- as well as in the near-infrared range, is obtained by polarization modulation of the incident electromagne…

Isomerization of Matrix-Isolated Formamide: IR-Spectroscopic Detection of Formimidic Acid

Günther Maier、Jörg Endres2000-03-01European Journal of Organic Chemistry

Ultraviolet irradiation of matrix-isolated formamide (1) in solid argon with light of wavelength 248 nm leads to the formation of formimidic acid (2). Comparison of the experimental IR spectrum of the photoproduct with the calculated IR spectrum of 2 shows clearly that two rotamers 2a and 2b are formed.

The crystal structure of FMN-binding protein (FMN-bp) from Desulfovibrio vulgaris Miyazaki F was solved by the multiple isomorphous replacement method and refined to an R factor of 15.1% at 1.3 A resolution. FMN-bp exists in a dimeric form in the crystal, in contrast to the monomeric structure determined by NMR. R.m.s…

Indentation behaviour and wear resistance of pseudoelastic Ti–Ni alloy

R. Liu、D.Y. Li2000-03-01Materials Science and Technology

Recent studies demonstrate that near equiatomic Ti–Ni alloys possess high resistance to surface damage by wear. It is suggested that the high wear resistance of Ti–Ni alloys is closely correlated to their pseudoelasticity, which is usually evaluated by tensile testing. However, when a Ti–Ni alloy is under wear, its su…

Thomas J. Hill、John J. Mecholsky、Kenneth J. Anusavice2000-03-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The objective of this paper was to analyze the crystal aspect ratio (AR), the fracture toughness, and the fractal dimension of 3BaO . 5SiO 2 glass‐ceramics and to relate the topography of fracture surfaces to fractal behavior. These analyses demonstrate that crystal morphology strongly affects the fracture path, the f…

Ferroelasticity

Ekhard K. H. Salje2000-03-01Contemporary Physics

The ferroelastic hysteresis is correlated with the propagation of twin walls under external stress. The wall thickness at T < < Tc varies between 1 nm and 7 nm for different materials. Individual twin walls can act as fast diffusion paths for dopants and lattice imperfections. Several twin walls can combine to form hi…
