Unimolecular micelles: supramolecular use of dendritic constructs to create versatile molecular containers

Charles N. Moorefield、George R. Newkome2003-08-01Comptes Rendus Chimie

A brief survey of host–guest interactions involving dendritic architectures is presented. Discussion begins with an examination of early examples of branched motifs described as ‘micelle-like’ and progresses through to current investigations of unimolecular micelles and their attendant supramolecular properties.

Hydroxylation-induced Stabilization of the Collagen Triple Helix

Kazunori Mizuno、Toshihiko Hayashi、Hans Peter Bächinger2003-08-01Journal of Biological Chemistry

4(R)-Hydroxyproline in the Yaa position of the -Gly-Xaa-Yaa-repeated sequence of collagen plays a crucial role in the stability of the triple helix. Since the peptide (4(R)-Hyp-Pro-Gly)10 does not form a triple helix, it was generally believed that polypeptides with a -Gly-4(R)-Hyp-Yaa-repeated sequence do not form a…

Comparison of Cu electromigration lifetime in Cu interconnects coated with various caps

C.‐K. Hu、L. Gignac、E. Liniger 等 9 位作者2003-08-01Applied Physics Letters

Electromigration in Cu Damascene lines with bamboo-like grain structures, either capped with Ta/TaN, SiNx, SiCxNyHz layers, or without any cap, was investigated. A thin Ta/TaN cap on top of the Cu line surface significantly improves electromigration lifetime when compared with lines without a cap and with lines capped…

Amorphous Silicon Carbonitride Fibers Drawn from Alkoxide Modified Ceraset™

Atanu Saha、Sandeep R. Shah、Rishi Raj2003-08-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

We show that the rheology of a silazane‐based precursor for a silicon carbonitride ceramic can be radically altered by reacting it with an alkoxide precursor. This modified precursor can be drawn into fibers by a simple process. The fiber‐friendly rheology of the modified precursor is ascribed to the creation of linea…

Benoît Guillot、N. Muzet、Emilio Artacho 等 5 位作者2003-08-01The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

NAD + is the oxidized form of the coenzyme redox pair NAD + /NADH and plays a main role in catalysis of biological processes. Accurate X-ray diffraction data have been collected at 100 K from a crystal of the free acid form of the coenzyme NAD + with a CCD area detector up to 0.55 Å resolution. A multipole refinement…

A combined structural study on ternary phosphate glasses (MnO)x(NaPO3)1−x, x = 0.0, 0.024, 0.048, 0.167, is performed using X-ray diffraction, EXAFS and Raman spectroscopy. The mean Mn-O nearest-neighbour distance and the Mn-O coordination number in the glass with 16.7 mol% MnO are 2.15(2) °A and 5.7±0.4, respectively…

Fundamental aspects of excitation and propagation of on-line partial discharge signals in three-phase medium voltage cable systems

P.C.J.M. van der Wielen、E.F. Steennis、P.A.A.F. Wouters2003-08-01IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation

On-line partial discharge (PD) detection of three-phase belted medium voltage cable connections results in a number of interpretation differences as compared to off-line measurements where only one phase is energized. The induced currents and charges in the phase conductors and earth screen upon a PD not only depend o…

Synthesis, Spectroscopic and Magnetic Studies on Metal Complexes of 5-Methyl-3-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)Pyrazole

Saied M. E. Khalil2003-08-01Journal of Coordination Chemistry

A tridentate ONN donor ligand, 5-methyl-3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)pyrazole; H2L, was synthesized by reaction of 2-(3-ketobutanoyl)phenol with hydrazine hydrate. The ligand was characterized by IR, 1H NMR and mass spectra. 1H NMR spectra indicated the presence of the phenolic OH group and the imine NH group of the heterocycli…

Aluminum (Al) doped ZnO (AZO) films were grown on sapphire substrate via oxygen radical assisted molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) technique. The results of XRD measurement and temperature dependence Hall measurement confirmed that the AZO films were typically highly degenerate semiconductor with good crystallinity. The op…

TEM investigation of forsterite dendrites

François Fauré、Gilles Trolliard、B. Soulestin2003-08-01American Mineralogist

Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has been used to investigate dendritic forsterite systematically, in order to understand its morphology in three dimensions. TEM images of olivine dendrites are reported for the first time. Crystals have been obtained by dynamic crystallization in the CaO-MgO-Al 2 O 3 -SiO 2 (CMA…

Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Amorphous Si–C–N Ceramics: Composition Dependence of the Atomic Structure

Nicoletta Resta、Christopher C. Kohler、Hans‐Rainer Trebin2003-08-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

We have performed classical molecular dynamics simulations of amorphous Si–C–N materials. The dependence of the local order and of the microstructure on the chemical composition was investigated. Our simulations show that for a stoichiometric nitrogen/silicon ratio equal to or higher than 4/3, the amorphous ceramic se…

Electrical sensing of DNA hybridization in porous silicon layers

Myla Archer、Philippe M. Fauchet2003-08-01physica status solidi (a)

The objective of this work is to use porous silicon (PSi) layers as substrate material to transduce hybridization of DNA into a change in conductance. A coplanar configuration of the contact electrodes allows a complete exposure of the porous silicon layer to the sensing species without the need of top contacts or ele…

Grain Growth Control in Sb 2 O 3 ‐Doped Zinc Oxide

Nina Daneu、Aleksander Rečnik、Slavko Bernik2003-08-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Microstructure development in Sb 2 O 3 ‐doped ZnO was studied to evaluate the influence of inversion boundaries (IBs) on ZnO grain growth. In general, the addition of Sb 2 O 3 is believed to inhibit the ZnO grain growth via the formation of spinels and IBs, but we have shown that even the conditions of exaggerated gra…
