T. Q. Li、Hui Liu、T. Li 等 9 位作者2009-09-15Physical Review B

This paper investigates the radiation properties of two coupled split-ring resonators (SRRs). Due to electromagnetic coupling, two hybrid magnetic plasmon modes were induced in the structure. Our calculations show that the radiation loss of the structure was greatly suppressed by the hybridization effect. This led to…

Vortexlike Topological Defects in Nematic Colloids: Chiral Colloidal Dimers and 2D Crystals

Uroš Tkalec、Miha Ravnik、S. Žumer 等 4 位作者2009-09-15Physical Review Letters

We show that chiral ordering of the underlying complex fluid strongly influences defect formation and colloidal interactions. Nonsingular defect loops with a topological charge -2 are observed, with a cross section identical to hyperbolic vortices in magnetic systems. These loops are binding spontaneously formed pairs…

Fast phase transition process of Ge2Sb2Te5 film induced by picosecond laser pulses with identical fluences

Huan Huang、Fangyuan Zuo、Fengxiao Zhai 等 7 位作者2009-09-15Journal of Applied Physics

Fast phase transition processes on Ge2Sb2Te5 film induced by picosecond laser pulses were studied using time-resolved reflectivity measurements. It was found that after picosecond laser pulse priming, reversible switching could be occurred upon picosecond laser pulse irradiation with the same well-chosen fluence. This…

Influence of the oxidation and acetylation of banana starch on the mechanical and water barrier properties of modified starch and modified starch/chitosan blend films

Paul Baruk Zamudio‐Flores、Apolonio Vargas Torres、R. Salgado-Delgado 等 4 位作者2009-09-15Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract Banana starch was oxidized at three different levels and afterwards acetylated. The double‐modified starch was used for film preparation with the addition of chitosan. The physical, mechanical, and barrier properties were tested. The oxidation level increased the moisture content of the film, but the acetylat…

Simulation of cholesteric blue phases using a Landau–de Gennes theory: Effect of an applied electric field

Jun‐ichi Fukuda、Makoto Yoneya、Hiroshi Yokoyama2009-09-15Physical Review E

We investigate numerically static and dynamic properties of cholesteric blue phases. Our study is based on a Landau-de Gennes theory describing the orientational order of a liquid crystal in terms of a second-rank tensor. To find the shape and size of the unit cell conforming to the minimum of the free energy, we let…

The thermal conductance of nanoscale phonon modes is typically calculated using the Boltzmann transport equation. A particular implementation of this method is the acoustic mismatch model (AMM) that compares impedance ratios at a mathematically abrupt transition between two equilibrium regions. The shortcomings of thi…
