Raman spectroscopic study of dilute HOD in liquid H2O in the temperature range − 31.5 to 160 °C

David E. Hare、C. M. Sorensen1990-11-15The Journal of Chemical Physics

We present Raman data for the OD stretch mode of 10 mol % HOD in H2O for the liquid phase from −31.5 to 160 °C. We find that an exact isosbestic does not hold, but rather the crossing of isotherms slowly but uniformly changes with temperature. We present an analysis based on Boltzmann statistics which gives evidence f…

A Model of Polarization Reversal in Ferroelectrics

Yoshihiro Ishibashi1990-11-15Journal of the Physical Society of Japan

The polarization reversal in one-dimensional systems representing ferroelectrics has been studied on the basis of a proposed discrete lattice model. Latent nuclei are assumed to exist, and their influence on the polarization appearing in equilibrium states is discussed. Simulations of polarization reversal have been p…

Models of the self-trapped exciton and nearest-neighbor defect pair inSiO2

A. L. Shluger、Eugene V. Stefanovich1990-11-15Physical review. B, Condensed matter

The adiabatic potential surface for triplet exciton self-trapping and Frenkel-defect pair creation in ${\mathrm{SiO}}_{2}$ has been studied with use of a periodic supercell model and a self-consistent intermediate neglect of the differential overlap method for open shell. The results obtained confirm completely the se…

Thermal conductivity of GaSb and InSb in solid and liquid states

Shin Nakamura、Taketoshi Hibiya、Fumio Yamamoto1990-11-15Journal of Applied Physics

Thermal conductivities of InSb and GaSb in solid and liquid states were measured with a ceramic probe. Thermal conductivities at melting points were about 17.7 (W/mK) at 803 K for molten InSb and 21.7 (W/mK) at 993 K for molten GaSb. Thermal conductivities were slightly increased with increasing temperature in liquid…

Oxidation of HF-treated Si wafer surfaces in air

D. Gräf、M. Grundner、Robert Schulz 等 4 位作者1990-11-15Journal of Applied Physics

The change in the chemical surface state of polished Si wafers [p-type, (100) oriented] during storage in air at room temperature was investigated for storage times up to half a year. Measurements were performed by x-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and High Resolution Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (HREELS). I…

Electronic properties of random alloys: Special quasirandom structures

Su‐Huai Wei、Leonardo L. G. Ferreira、James E. Bernard 等 4 位作者1990-11-15OpenAlex

Structural models needed in calculations of properties of substitutionally random ${\mathit{A}}_{1\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathit{x}}$${\mathit{B}}_{\mathit{x}}$ alloys are usually constructed by randomly occupying each of the N sites of a periodic cell by A or B. We show that it is possible to design ``special quasira…

Empirical potential for hydrocarbons for use in simulating the chemical vapor deposition of diamond films

Donald W. Brenner1990-11-15OpenAlex

An empirical many-body potential-energy expression is developed for hydrocarbons that can model intramolecular chemical bonding in a variety of small hydrocarbon molecules as well as graphite and diamond lattices. The potential function is based on Tersoff's covalent-bonding formalism with additional terms that correc…

Cross-check of elastic differential cross sections and measurement of excitation and ionization cross section for electron-mercury scattering

F J Peitzmann、J. Keßler1990-11-14Journal of Physics B Atomic Molecular and Optical Physics

Absolute differential and angle-integrated cross sections for elastic electron scattering from mercury were measured at 100, 150 and 300 eV to check the internal consistency of two data sets obtained with a static gas target and an atomic beam. In addition, absolute differential and angle-integrated cross sections for…

A novel approach to producing p-type ZnSe epitaxial layers is reported which involves nitrogen atom beam doping during molecular beam epitaxial growth. Net acceptor concentrations as large as 3.4×1017 cm−3 have been measured in nitrogen atom beam doped ZnSe/GaAs heteroepitaxial layers which represents the highest acce…

The Present State of Metallized Polyimide

E. Sacher1990-11-09ACS symposium series

Due to the incorporation of mechanical stresses during polymer/metal multilayer device fabrication, strong inter facial adhesion must be maintained in order to sustain mechanical integrity. Here we consider the adhesion of metal deposited onto polymer. In order to assure chemical bonding of the sort leading to strong…

An experimental investigation of acoustic cavitation in gaseous liquids

Dario Felipe Gaitan1990-11-08Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC)

High amplitude radial pulsations of a single bubble in several glycerine and water mixtures were observed in an acoustic stationary wave system at acoustic pressure amplitudes on the order of 150 kPa at 21-25 kHz. Sonoluminescence, a phenomenon generally attributed to the high temperatures generated during the collaps…

Exact evaluation of the collapse phase boundary for two-dimensional directed polymers

D P Foster1990-11-07Journal of Physics A Mathematical and General

The phase boundary of the collapsed phase for a directed polymer on a square lattice in the presence of an attractive wall and monomer-monomer interactions is calculated exactly using transfer-matrix techniques. The position of the multicritical point is also identified.

Abstract Since 4‐vinylbenzyl N,N ‐diethyldithiocarbamate (VBDC) polymer easily cleaves at the C—S bond and generates benzyl radical, graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) or 4‐vinylpyridine (VPy) onto VBDC polymer is easily performed by UV irradiation.
