脂肪族ポリエステル系繊維と天然繊維について,鳥取県沖深度 2000 m の海底及び富山湾深層水(深度 321 m)中で浸漬試験を行い,これらの繊維の深海中における生分解性について評価した。約 1 年間浸漬した結果,すべての繊維で強度低下が確認され,繊維の表面には微生物による分解痕が多数確認された。これらの結果から,深海でも繊維が分解されることが確認された。さらに,深層水中から Pseudomonas 属に属する 2 株の PCL 分解微生物を単離した。単離した PCL 分解微生物は低温下でも増殖し,PCL 分解活性を示した。
