Abstract Microprobe analyses of optically homogeneous detrital biotites from sandstones of the Visingsö Group and the Dala Sandstone, Sweden, revealed a consistently low K content (generally <0.75 atom/formula unit) and variable amounts of Fe, Mg, Al, and Si. Electron probe profiles of some biotite grains indicated…

Ytterbium-DTPA was evaluated as a potential intravascular contrast agent. Ytterbium-DTPA was synthesized from ytterbium oxide and diethylene triamine penta-acetic acid (DTPA). CT scans of increasing concentrations of ytterbium and iodine showed that at 125 kVp, ytterbium was denser than an equal concentration of iodin…

Abstract By impregnating cotton fiber with alkaline swelling agents and reacting with some chemical agents which can be substituted for the hydroxyl groups on cellulose molecules in the presence of alkali, highly accessible or decrystallized cotton fibers can be obtained. As the effective substitution reactions, acety…

The Garton effect has been observed in PET films in the low-frequency range from 0.0003 to 0.1 Hz. The current wave manifests a remarkable deformation which depends on the temperature, the applied voltage, the frequency and the sample thickness. Tan delta evaluated from the power loss decreases with the increase in ap…

Transformers and reactors used in the electric power transmission systems show non-linear magnetization characteristics, the exact knowledge of which is essential to the study of system transient operation. This paper describes a measurement method for these characteristics, based on D.C. EXCITATION. During such excit…

We consider a model based on the Maier and Saupe theory in order to explain the reentrant nematic-isotropic transition observed in lyotropic liquid crystals. By assuming a linear dependence of the micellar shape anisotropy with temperature, we show that it is possible to obtain a reentrant transition.
