Facile aerial oxidation of a porphyrin. Part 18. N‐alkylation of the oxidised product derived from Meso‐tetrakis(3,5‐di‐t‐butyl‐4‐hydroxyphenyl)porphyrin

Lionel R. Milgrom、Jonathan P. Hill、Gökhan Yahioglu1995-01-01Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry

Abstract In basic solutions, the oxidised porphyrin 2 readily undergoes macrocyclic N ‐alkylation, with up to four bulky alkyl groups, including decyl and substituted benzyl moieties, being accomodated: an argument is presented to show that N ‐di‐alkylation occurs on opposite nitrogen atoms, on the same side of the ma…

F. Poignant、J. Saussey、Jean‐Claude Lavalley 等 4 位作者1995-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

Substitution of a NO + C3H8+ He flow by O2+ He at 623 K leads to the appearance on a H–Cu–ZSM-5 catalyst of three IR bands at 3366, 3290 and 3192 cm–1 assigned to NH3 species as confirmed by NH3 adsorption showing that ammonia is formed during the SCR of NO by propane in excess oxygen, suggesting that it could play th…

Hydrothermal synthesis of diamond from diamond-seeded β-SiC powder

Yury Gogotsi、Klaus G. Nickel、Per Kofstad1995-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

Mixtures of SiC powder with diamond seeds were subjected to hydrothermal treatment at 700–750 °C under pressures of 100–500 MPa. The results of this study demonstrate that well crystallised diamond is formed after hydrothermal treatment of SiC when diamond seeds are present.

Materials Synthesis Via Solid-State Metathesis Reactions

Randolph E. Treece、Edward G. Gillan、Richard B. Kaner1995-01-01Comments on Inorganic Chemistry

The synthesis of solid-state materials generally requires high temperatures and long reaction times in order to overcome diffusion barriers and achieve homogeneous products. Recently chemical routes using reactive precursors have allowed for greater control over product characteristics including stoichiometry and crys…

An EELS and XAS Study of Cubic Boron Nitride Synthesized under High Pressure - High Temperature Conditions

Michel Jaouen、Gilles Hug、Valérie Gonnet 等 5 位作者1995-01-01Microscopy Microanalysis Microstructures

Cubic Boron Nitride (c-BN) single-crystals have been synthesized under high pressure and high temperature conditions (HP - HT) using hexagonal Boron Nitride (h-BN) precursors. We have performed a study of both phases with electron (EELS) and X-ray (XAS) spectroscopy that are compared. The c-BN ELNES spectra at B-K and…

Surface chemistry of polar oxide surfaces: formic acid on NiO (111)

Chen Xu、D. Wayne Goodman1995-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Faraday Transactions

The adsorption and reaction of formic acid (HCO2H) on the NiO(111)/Mo(110) and MgO(111)/Mo(110) surfaces have been studied using temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). The adsorption of formic acid on the NiO(111) surface is dissociative even at 100 K, i…

Surface modification of fluoropolymers

K. Lunkwitz、Wolfgang Bürger、Uwe Lappan 等 5 位作者1995-01-01Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology

COF groups are formed by electron irradiation of PTFE [poly(tetrafluoroethylene)] powders in air, especially at the surface and in near-surface regions which can be easily hydrolysed to carboxyl groups by air humidity. The application of special additives during irradiation leads to modified micropowders. Fourier tran…

Computer-aided design of porcelain insulators under polluted conditions

R. Sundararajan、N.R. Sadhureddy、R.S. Gorur1995-01-01IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation

The development of a user-friendly, interactive personal computer package for designing insulators to be used in polluted conditions is presented. This is accomplished by integrating a dynamic arc model that computes the pollution flashover voltage within the Microsoft Windows application program. Suspension, station…

A diboronic acid ‘glucose cleft’ and a biscrown ether ‘metal sandwich’ are allosterically coupled

Tony D. James、Seiji Shinkai1995-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

Glucose is released from the diboronic acid ‘clef’3 when a metal ‘sandwich’ is formed by two 15-crown-5 rings; the binding events are sensitively monitored by changes in the fluorescence intensity.

The relationship between molecular structure and mesomorphic properties of 2,2′- and 3,2′-difluoroterphenyls synthesized by palladium-catalysed cross-couplings

Michael Hird、Kenneth J. Toyne、G. W. Gray 等 5 位作者1995-01-01Liquid Crystals

Several homologues of two structurally different types of mesogenic difluoroterphenyls have been prepared. One set of compounds contains two inner-core fluoro-substituents and the other set possesses both an inner-core and an outer-core fluoro-substituent. The use of various types of palladium-catalysed cross-coupling…
