Norihiro Nishiyama、H Katsuki、Kozo Horie 等 4 位作者1987-08-01Journal of Biomedical Materials Research

The adsorption mechanism of silane coupling agent on the colloidal silica surface is studied with spin-labeled silane coupling agent using ESR method. The density of the adsorbed silane molecules was determined to be approximately 1.5-2 molecules per 100 A2 of the silica surface in 95% ethanol solution. In addition, E…

Polarization-based optical parallel logic gate utilizing ferroelectric liquid crystals

Mark A. Handschy、Kristina M. Johnson、W. Thomas Cathey 等 4 位作者1987-08-01Optics Letters

We describe parallel optical XOR and XNOR logic gates implemented with ferroelectric liquid-crystal (FLC) electro-optic elements to yield naturally a logic in which the binary gate outputs are indicated by two orthogonal polarizations of transmitted light. These gates absorb no power from the incident light beam and h…

Microstructure and toughness in high speed tool steels: the influence of hot reduction and austenitization temperature

Şadi Karagöz、H. F. Fischmeister1987-08-01Steel Research

Measurements of transverse rupture strength are reported for AISI M2, AISI M 35, AISI T 15 and ASP 30 produced by conventional ingot metallurgy, sintering of cold pressed powders, and hot rolling of HIP billets. Also reported are the size distributions of undissolved carbides and the effects of hot reduction and auste…

Fracture toughness and crack instability in tough polymers under plane strain conditions

L. H. Lee、J. F. Mandell、F. J. McGarry1987-08-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract The plane strain fracture toughness and fracture mechanisms of several tough engineering plastics have been studied and compared with poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), a relatively brittle polymer. The tough polymers all are observed to form a multiple craze zone at the crack tip, which is shown to be the pri…

Green Electrochromism in the System of p-Cyanophenylviologen and Potassium Ferrocyanide

Hiroshi Mori、Jin Mizuguchi1987-08-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

A high-performance green-electrochromic display has been developed in a system of p-cyanophenylviologen (p-CV) and potassium ferrocyanide in the presence of sodium hypophosphite and potassium chloride. The main difficulty was in the fact that p-CV reacts with potassium ferrocyanide to form a scale-like green precipita…

V. Kraševec、Miha Drofenik、Drogo Kolar1987-08-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The orientational relationship between intergrown lamellae of tetragonal (t) BaTiO 3 and monoclinic (m) Ba 6 Ti 17 O 40 was found to be ( 1 1 1 ) t ||(001) m , (001) t ||( 1 0 1 ) m , and [110] t ||[0 1 0] m . On the basis of this relationship a model of a topotactic boundary between these two phases was constructed.
