TRAPped Structures: Making Artificial Cages with a Ring Protein

Jonathan G. Heddle2017-01-01ACS symposium series

Protein cages are hollow containers typically made from multiple copies of a small number of protein subunits. They occur extensively in nature and morphologies can vary but typically they are close to spherical in shape and have diameters in the nanometers to tens of nanometers range. Because central cavities of prot…

Saturated long chain sodium monocarboxylates for inhibition the corrosion of lead objects in atmospheric conditions and in acetic acid corrosive solution

Elbeshary Ahmed、Mieke Adriaens2017-01-01Ghent University Academic Bibliography (Ghent University)

Many metallic heritage objects, including lead, are in open display cases in museums, where the environment cannot be fully controlled.Temperature and humidity fluctuations often cause these objects to experience cyclic wet and dry periods and to suffer atmospheric corrosion 1

Pedot:Perchlorate Coatings for the Enchancement of Biogenic Amine Detection at Platinum

Wilfred S. Russell2017-01-01UA Campus Repository (The University of Arizona)

With this study, we describe a method for electropolymerizing a PEDOT:Perchlorate polymer onto the surface of platinum disk microelectrodes. Using cyclic voltammetry as an electropolymerization technique, we deposit an approximately 13 ± 1 µm thick coating of the polymeric material that enhances the electron transfer…

Strength conditions for the elastic structures with a stress error

А Д Матвеев2017-01-01AIP conference proceedings

As is known, the constraints (strength conditions) for the safety factor of elastic structures and design details of a particular class, e.g. aviation structures are established, i.e. the safety factor values of such structures should be within the given range. It should be noted that the constraints are set for the s…

Nuclear structures: Twinning and modulation in crystals

V. Petřı́ček、Michal Dušek2017-01-01EPJ Web of Conferences

Crystal structure analysis is a standard technique routinely applied to single crystals as well as powders. However the process is not so straightforward if the crystal sample is affected by twinning or if the structure is modulated. In such cases the standard procedures are not directly applicable. The main purpose o…

Scale-Up Aspects of PHA Production by Microbial Enrichment Cultures

Leonie Marang2017-01-01Research Repository (Delft University of Technology)

Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are microbial storage polymers accumulated by many different prokaryotes as an intracellular carbon and energy reserve. The polymer properties make PHA interesting as bioplastic. Moreover, the monomers could serve as chiral building blocks or be used as a biofuel. Currently, PHA is commerc…

Properties of hot-rolled sheets from ferritic steel with increased strength

Yu. A. Perlovich、Margarita Isaenkova、P. L. Dobrokhotov 等 7 位作者2017-01-01AIP conference proceedings

Sheets from ferritic steel 3 mm thick with increased strength after thermal hardening were studied by use of various X-ray methods and mechanical testing. Rolling of steel was carried out at 1100°C with rather great reductions per pass, so that plastic deformation of metal spread by the significant distance from the s…

Plasmonic Antireflective Structures with SiO2 Nanocolumns Fabricated by Oblique Angle Deposition

Hao Zhang、Chaogang Lou、Xiaodan Huang2017-01-01OpenAlex

SiO2 nanocolumns as spacers are introduced into plasmonic antireflective structure by oblique angle deposition. The deposition angles determine the morphology of SiO2 and the size distributions of Ag particles, which results in different reflections.
