Thermodynamic Study of Corrosion of Iron in NaNO3 ‐ NaNO2 Mixtures

G.S. Picard、Hervé Lefèbvre、B. Trémillon1987-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

The influence of oxoacidity on the corrosion of iron in molten sodium nitrate‐nitrite mixtures has been demonstrated by means of potential‐ p O 2− diagram. Oxoacidobasic titrations of iron(III) have been carried out by means of potentiometric measurements with an yttria‐stabilized zirconia membrane electrode, indicato…

Electronic spectroscopic data are reported for CoI, CoII, and CoIII mononuclear tetra(neopentoxy)-phthalocyaninate(2–)(L1) and bridged binuclear tri(neopentoxy)phthalocyaninate(2–) species in solution and film phases. Electrochemical data show that the [CoIIL1] species cannot exist in a non-co-ordinating or weakly co-…

Oxidation of Zircaloy-4 in Steam at 1300 to 2400°C

JT Prater、E.L. Courtright1987-01-01OpenAlex

The oxidation kinetics of Zircaloy-4 in steam have been extended to 2400°C. Growth of the ZrO2 and α-Zr(O) layers display parabolic behavior over the entire temperature range studied; however, a discontinuity in the oxidation kinetics above 1510°C causes rates to increase above those previously established by the Bake…

The Strength of Main Obstacles to Dislocation Motion in White Tin Crystals

Masami Fujiwara、Tomoo Hirokawa1987-01-01Journal of the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials

The strength of obstacles impeding the motion of dislocations has been studied using an etch hillock technique. Plate tin single crystals (99.999 mass% purity) were stretched in the [110] direction by a creep-testing apparatus. When applied shear stresses on the [100](010) slip system were more than 55 kPa, all the pr…

Improvement of magnetic properties of the permanent magnet : Effect of CaO and SiO2 additives on the sintered compact of Sr-ferrite.

Yuji Kaneko、Shuji Anamoto、Atsushi Hamamura1987-01-01Journal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy

Effects of CaO and SiO2 additives on the magnetic properties, density and microstructures of the sintered compacts of Sr-ferrite were investigated. It was revealed that CaO and SiO2 additives play important roles of rapid densification and grain growth controll through the sintering process of Sr-ferrite compacts. EPM…

Synthesis and curing of poly(styrylpyridine)s. Structural study on models and on the resins, 1. Thermal behaviour of low‐molecular‐weight styrylpyridines

R. Clavreul、B. Bloch、Maryvonne Brigodiot 等 4 位作者1987-01-01Die Makromolekulare Chemie

Abstract It could be shown that the structure of poly(styrylpyridine)s (PSP), which are heat resistant thermosetting resins resulting from the polycondensation of 2,4,6‐trimethylpyridine ( 1 ) with terephtalaldehyde ( 2 ), is much more complicated than that expected from this polycondensation. 2‐Styrylpyridines were s…

Diffuse phase transition in (Ba, Ca) TiO3ceramics

Dhananjai Pandey、V. S. Tiwari、Tejasvi Singh 等 6 位作者1987-01-01Phase Transitions

Dielectric behaviour of (Ba, Ca) TiO3 ceramics prepared by conventional and a novel technique has been studied as function of temperature and frequency. It is shown that by ensuring uniform distribution of Ca2+ ions in the BaTiO3 matrix, the transition from the ferroelectric to the paraelectric phase becomes more diff…

Effects of calcium addition on the foamability of molten aluminum.

Hidetoshi UENO、Shigeru Akiyama1987-01-01Journal of Japan Institute of Light Metals

A new process for producing porous aluminum by the foaming technique was developed. In the process, molten aluminum into which Ca has been added before the stage of viscosity rise is stirred to disperse oxide films into the melt. Adding Ca results in considerable shortening of the time for viscosity rise because of pr…

Analysis of waveguide gratings: a comparison of the results of Rouard’s method and coupled-mode theory

Laura A. Weller-Brophy、Dennis G. Hall1987-01-01Journal of the Optical Society of America A

Recently we introduced a new computational tool for the analysis of waveguide diffraction gratings based on Rouard’s method, a recursive technique used in thin-film coating design. In this paper we compare the reflectivities predicted by Rouard’s method with those found by using the ideal mode expansion of coupled-mod…

Thermal behaviour of films of partially neutralized poly(acrylic acid). 1: Influence of metal ions

John W. Nicholson、Alan D. Wilson1987-01-01British Polymer Journal

Abstract A series of partially neutralized poly(acrylates) has been prepared, and reactions occurring on heating them at 250°C have been studied. It was found that different chemical processes occurred at this temperature, depending on the nature of the counter ion. Univalent cations gave films of excellent chemical r…

Influence of experimental inaccuracies on corrosion rates and Tafel slopes determined from electrochemical measurements in different overpotential ranges

William Skinner1987-01-01British Corrosion Journal

It is shown that electrochemical observations (over a small range of overpotentials) which may be subject to relatively small (< 1%) experimental inaccuracies can lead to results that are seriously (> 100%) in error when analysis of the results is performed using traditional analysis techniques.
