大気中光電子収量分光法は,試料にエネルギーを変えながら紫外線を照射し,放出される光電子数をオープンカウンターで測定する手法である.オープンカウンターは大気中で動作するので,大気中での物質の電子状態を反映した結果が得られる.近年,著者らは,大気中におけるその場観察の新たな可能性を引き出すことに取り組んできた.本総合論文では,最近の成果である,1)金属表面の仕事関数のその場観察,2)飲料の光電子放出特性,について紹介したい.
